Glenn McGrath has absolutely no qualms about predicting a bold 4-0 win for Australia against India in the four Test series which starts in Brisbane on 4 December. “I have no issues with saying I think it’ll be 4-0,” McGrath was quoted as saying in by Sydney Morning Herald. A look at India’s record in Australia against the home team provides ample reason as to why the former pacer may have predicted a whitewash — two wins in 23 Tests since 1985 by a team which boasted the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman. Reuters[/caption] One of those players — Dravid — has backed the team to do well, also saying that the Australia tour could be the making of a new team, but McGrath can’t help but go back to the numbers. “The way the Australian team played last season over here, they were awesome (beat England 5-0). If they can get anywhere near that, they’ll win and win quite convincingly. I saw India play the last three Test matches in the UK and by the end of it, they were a bit of a rabble,” he said. Indian batsmen, who usually have trouble against pace and bounce, will come up against Mitchell Johnson, Ryan Harris and Peter Siddle in their own backyard — something that looks ominous. “Historically, they’ve never played well with a bit of bounce and seam. They’re going to have their work cut out for them. They’ve got to turn things around big time otherwise they’re going to get thumped over here,” McGrath said. India last won an away Test series when they beat West Indies in 2011. Click here to read the full SMH report.
