ISL 2017-18: Bengaluru FC sign Spanish striker Daniel Lucas Segovia for remainder of season
Segovia first began playing football at the youth setup of Rayo Vallecano where he made his professional debut in the Segunda Division in 2004-05.
Bengaluru: Bengaluru FC on Thursday roped in 32-year-old Spanish striker Daniel Lucas Segovia for the remainder of the Indian Super League season (ISL).
Segovia replaces fellow countryman Braulio Nobrega, who has been ruled out for the season due to a knee injury.
Born in Madrid, Segovia first began playing football at the youth setup of Rayo Vallecano where he made his professional debut in the Segunda Division in 2004-05.
He then plied his trade in a string of Spanish clubs, before moving to Austria to sign for St Plten.
The striker scored 29 goals in 48 league appearances for St Plten.
He then joined FC Admira for the remainder of the season, followed by Wolfsberger.
After a brief stint with Admira and Wolfsberger, Segovia returned to St Plten. In January 2017, he moved to Azerbaijan joining Premier League side Neftchi Baku.
Having completed formalities on a short-term deal till the end of the season, Segovia said hearing good things about Bengaluru persuaded him to make the move.
He completed his first full training session at the Bangalore Football Stadium earlier on Thursday.
"The presence of other Spanish players helped me settle in, when I was at Zaragoza in the reserve team, Edu Garcia was with the youth setup and it was very nice to catch up with him," Segovia said.
"We have a very good group of players with some top Indian professionals, so it is a good feeling," he added.
Head Coach Albert Roca said the team needed an experienced striker like Segovia in Braulio's absence.
"I wish him the best and hope that he will help us achieve our objectives this season," he said.
Stokes posted a photograph showing him holding a bat with his bandaged finger and the words: "12th April broken finger. 11th October first time since breaking being able to get it round my handle."
Hasaranga and Chameera were roped in as replacement players for Australians Adam Zampa and Daniel Sams by the franchise ahead of the second leg of ongoing season.
Reports also suggest that the bidders for the upcoming IPL are expected to submit an average turnover of Rs 3,000 crore or a net worth of Rs 2,500 crore.
