New Delhi: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) disciplinary committee on Monday fined Mumbai City FC Rs 5 lakh for “team misconduct” during their Indian Super League (ISL) semi-final against Atletico de Kolkata (ATK). The fine was imposed on the Mumbai outfit under the AIFF Disciplinary Code Article 53B. [caption id=“attachment_3175398” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]
Mumbai City FC drew with Atletico de Kolkata in the 2nd leg of the semi-final, losing 2-3 on overall aggregate. ISL[/caption] Besides, the AIFF disciplinary committee also found Mumbai player Thiago Dos Santos Cunha guilty of misconduct against opponents and suspended him for four matches and fining him Rs 3 lakh under Code Article 49 ‘Misconduct Against Opponents’. Another player Facundo Cardozo was also suspended for three games for post-match misconduct under Article 58 titled ‘Offensive Behaviour and Fair Play’. The organisation also suspended official Bhushan Tandel for five matches and fined Rs 2 lakh for misconduct against match officials under Article 60 titled ‘Threats’, aside from Article 58. The incident began when the second leg of the semi-final between the two sides took an ugly turn after the final whistle following an altercation between ATK’s Juan Belencoso and Leo Costa of Mumbai.
