ISL 2016: Champions Chennaiyin retain Karanjit Singh, Thoi Singh and Mehrajuddin Wadoo

Chennai: The trio of goalkeeper Karanjit Singh, midfielder Thoi Singh and defender Mehrajuddin Wadoo have been retained for the 3rd edition of Indian Super League by Chennaiyin FC.

According to a Chennaiyin FC press release issued on Friday, the three players' contracts have been extended by one year.

Karanjit and Thoi were bought by Chennaiyin in season 2 during the player's auctions while Wadoo joined on a free transfer after playing for FC Pune City in the inaugural edition.

"Thoi, Wadoo and Karanjit played important roles in our success last season. We are happy to have them back for our title defence," said Chennaiyin FC head coach Marco Materazzi.

After ISL, Karanjit and Wadoo had loan stints at Goan clubs Salgaocar and Sporting Clube respectively.
