Raina leads CSK to a record seventh successive win

See the detailed scorecard HERE . Toss: Chennai won the toss and elected to bat first Chennai Super Kings 186/4 (20 overs) This innings was a Suresh Raina fest. It started off with the KXIP bowlers keeping the CSK batsmen in check and restricting them to just 36 runs after 6 overs. But then the momentum increased until it reached a crescendo of sorts. And the man who lead them there was Suresh Raina. He got a fifty in the last match and took it up a notch today. His 53-ball ton took CSK to a remarkable 186-4. Raina’s innings was all about clean big-hitting and he paced his innings with an almost Dhoni-like calm. And before we forget, we also witnessed a Dhoni run-out in the innings – that’s something that happens very rarely in any form of cricket. BCCI[/caption] Kings XI Punjab 171/6 (20 overs) The difference between KXIP and the CSK was the pressure of the scoreboard. When CSK batted, they didn’t have to worry about having to chase down a big total. KXIP, on the other hand, had their eye on the scorecard at all times. They still managed to run CSK pretty close thanks to Shaun Marsh (73 off 51 balls) and David Miller (51 not out off 26 balls). In came down to 19 runs off the last over but in the end, CSK just had too much quality and swept away to their seventh successive win (equalling the IPL record which was held by Bangalore) as Bravo bowled a superb over. Result: CSK won by 15 runs. Turning point: KXIP had kept Raina and CSK in check till the last three overs of the innings. But then things went completely wrong. CSK inspired by Raina scored 36 in those overs and took the match beyond KXIP. Quotes: David Hussey: “Probably the last three overs with the ball (we let it go). Shaun Marsh and David Miller fantastic partership. I reckon we can five out of six.” MS Dhoni: “I don’t think we have performed as well as in the fourth edition of the IPL. We are getting better with every game. We did really well today, Raina batted well with Hussey, the bowling department also overall quite happy, just one tactical error in bringing in Raina (who gave away 19 runs in his only over). Performance was really great.”
