Mumbai Indians halt CSK's winning streak with huge win

Toss: Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bat. Result: Mumbai Indians won by 60 runs. Click here for the full scorecard. Mumbai Indians: 139/5 (Rohit Sharma 39*, Harbhajan 25*, Jadeja 3-29) Chennai’s bowlers kept a tight line on a track that was a little slow and Mumbai Indians struggled to get going. Just 21 came from the first 5 overs, as Tendulkar in particular had trouble timing the ball. He appeared to break free in the sixth over with a four and paddle over fine leg for six off Mohit Sharma but was trapped leg-before by Jadeja in the seventh. The average first innings score at the Wankhede has been 190 this season but the runs would not flow for the home side. Kieron Pollard was promoted above Rohit Sharma to try and get something going but he only managed 1 before getting suckered in by Jadeja and holing out to long-on. BCCI](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Johnson_380.jpg) Mitchell Johnson picked up three wickets in his second over. BCCI[/caption] Mumbai limped to 90 for 5 after 16 overs and it took a late assault from Rohit Sharma and Harbhajan Singh, who hit his first ball for six, to lift them to 139. The pair added 57 from just 29 balls to give their bowlers something to defend as they aimed to halt Chennai’s seven-game winning streak. Chennai Super Kings: 79 all out (Hussey 22, Johnson 3-27, Ojha 3-11, Malinga 2-6) There was drama from the start as Hussey cut Mitchell Johnson three times off consecutive balls to Pollard at point and Pollard dropped him each time (watch the video here. The first catch was the hardest, the last the easiest, but they all went down. Adding injury to insult, Pollard had to go off the field for treatment because the ball hit him on the nose off the last attempt. The surreal start continued with Johnson’s next over, when Murali Vijay dragged a wide ball onto his stumps and then Raina got a leading edge that Pollard dived to snag just before it hit the ground, before hurling the ball into the air in relief. The hat-trick ball beat the bat but it got worse for CSK when Badrinath was ruled leg-before for a duck. Just like that, CSK were 9 for 3 after three overs. Wickets continued to tumbleafter that. They slid to 18 for 4, then 34 for 5, then 40 for 6 when Hussey pulled Ohja to deep midwicket. From there it was a matter of when, not if, Mumbai would win. Malinga picked up two late wickets, one with a perfect slower yorker that Chris Morris knew nothing about, and Ojha picked up two more cheap wickets to bowl CSK out for their lowest ever total and hand them their worst defeat in IPL history. Turning Point Johnson’s three wickets in five balls. After Hussey had been dropped three times by Pollard, it seemed it had to be CSK’s day. But Johnson’s burst turned the momentum Mumbai Indian’s way and Chennai never recovered. Man of the Match: Mitchell Johnson You can watch Pollard’s three dropped catches here.
