There’s hope still for the bowling. But it’s going to be a long tournament for them. Du Plessis and Jadeja were special with the bat for CSK as was Bravo. And then the bowling was superb too. The first match was an aberration. Chennai are a superb team and they will be very tough to stop. 2310 IST: DC 119-9 after 17 overs Ravi Teja st Dhoni b Jadeja 0 (2b) The 2 million seems well spent for now. Chennai can afford to experiment now and still win. 2257 IST: DC 98-6 after 13.5 overs DT Christian c Bravo b Jakati 2 (3b) Bravo takes a catch, shakes his hips in perfect rhythm and gets slapped on the ass by Du Plessis. This is entertainment and an easy win for CSK. 2253 IST: DC 94-5 after 12.3 overs B Chipli b Jadeja 10 (9b, 1x6) This is over now. Too many runs needed. Chennai supporters can start partying. That’s the way it is. Jadeja dropped it a little short and added some pace to the mix. That did the trick. 2248 IST: DC 85-4 after 11.3 overs C White c Raina b Jakati 23 (16b 2x4 1x6) Brilliant bowling by Jakati. White had just hit him for six and he knew that with the run-rate mounting, the Aussie would try and do it again. So he cramped him for room and Raina did the rest. Small wonder why Jakati hasn’t made it to the Indian team yet… if Rahul Sharma can, anyone can. 2244 IST: DC 77-3 after 10.3 overs PA Patel b Jadeja 20 (17b 3x4) DC are in a spot of bother. Chennai really turned it on towards the end of their innings, DC will struggle to do it in quite the same vein. They wouldn’t want to leave it too late. 2225 IST: DC 45-2 after 6.2 overs S Dhawan c Bravo b Raina 21 (18b 3x4) Raina is turning out to be quite the handy bowler. He keeps a steady line and doesn’t try to do anything silly. In T20, that is usually the batsman’s territory. Dhawan was looking to force the pace, he hit the ball well but picked out Bravo in the deep. 2215 IST: DC 32-1 after 4 overs D Harris c Dhoni b Bollinger 15 (14b, 3x4) First wicket and Bollinger has done the trick. DC weren’t going at a crazy rate but Harris was threatening to break lose. Bravo sure came to the party. 43 off 18. He went nuts in the end. Last two overs, 40 runs. Gony ended up conceding 54 in his 4 overs. And Sudhindra conceded 46 off his 4. DC made a good start to their innings but they really lost it towards the end. He needed to cut loose or get out. He tried, he always does. It just wasn’t good enough. Du Plessis holes out at long-on but he didn’t really have an option. The left-hander skied that but Christian wanted that and he let everyone know about it. He decided it was time – he was lucky at first. But then hammered a four, a six and another six off consecutive balls to kick start the innings. Pre-game Time for Chennai to find their fire once again after losing to Mumbai Indians in the first match of the tournament. On the other hand, Deccan Chargers are without Kumar Sangakkara, and it is their first match of the tournament. They are not the strongest team but they will hope that ‘home’ advantage works in their favour. DC had a practice match in Vizag and that will help them figure out the dynamics of the new stadium. CSK were looking to do the same. “The ball was swinging a bit in practice but our decision is based more on the dew factor,” said DC skipper Cameron White. “That is why we elected to bowl first.” On the other hand, Dhoni believes the back-to-back games will help his side. “We were a little rusty in the first game and didn’t make the most of the home match but it can happen in this format.
