2314 IST: DC 119-9 after 17.1 overs Ankit Sharma c Morkel b Bollinger 15 (8b) All over. CSK could get used to this. Can’t say the same for DC. They looked really short in the batting department. There’s hope still for the bowling. But it’s going to be a long tournament for them. Du Plessis and Jadeja were special with the bat for CSK as was Bravo. And then the bowling was superb too. The first match was an aberration. Chennai are a superb team and they will be very tough to stop. 2310 IST: DC 119-9 after 17 overs Ravi Teja st Dhoni b Jadeja 0 (2b) The 2 million seems well spent for now. Runs and now a 5-wicket haul for just 16 runs. Jaddu’s day. 2303 IST: DC 99-8 after 14.3 overs DB Ravi Teja st †Dhoni b Jadeja 0 (2b) This has all gone wrong so quickly for DC. It’s over. Chennai can afford to experiment now and still win. 2257 IST: DC 98-6 after 13.5 overs DT Christian c Bravo b Jakati 2 (3b) Bravo takes a catch, shakes his hips in perfect rhythm and gets slapped on the ass by Du Plessis. This is entertainment and an easy win for CSK. 2253 IST: DC 94-5 after 12.3 overs B Chipli b Jadeja 10 (9b, 1x6) This is over now. Too many runs needed. Chennai supporters can start partying. That’s the way it is. Jadeja dropped it a little short and added some pace to the mix. That did the trick. 2248 IST: DC 85-4 after 11.3 overs C White c Raina b Jakati 23 (16b 2x4 1x6) Brilliant bowling by Jakati. White had just hit him for six and he knew that with the run-rate mounting, the Aussie would try and do it again. So he cramped him for room and Raina did the rest. Small wonder why Jakati hasn’t made it to the Indian team yet… if Rahul Sharma can, anyone can. 2244 IST: DC 77-3 after 10.3 overs PA Patel b Jadeja 20 (17b 3x4) DC are in a spot of bother. Chennai really turned it on towards the end of their innings, DC will struggle to do it in quite the same vein. They wouldn’t want to leave it too late. 2225 IST: DC 45-2 after 6.2 overs S Dhawan c Bravo b Raina 21 (18b 3x4) Raina is turning out to be quite the handy bowler. He keeps a steady line and doesn’t try to do anything silly. In T20, that is usually the batsman’s territory. Dhawan was looking to force the pace, he hit the ball well but picked out Bravo in the deep. 2215 IST: DC 32-1 after 4 overs D Harris c Dhoni b Bollinger 15 (14b, 3x4) First wicket and Bollinger has done the trick. DC weren’t going at a crazy rate but Harris was threatening to break lose. The breakthrough came at the right time. 2205 IST: DC 16-0 after 2 overs D Harris 5, S Dhawan 10 First over was bowled by Ashwin and after getting hit for four off the first ball, he fought back with five dot balls. Second over didn’t see anything major either – DC will need to find their range soon enough. 2146 IST: CSK 193-6 after 20 overs D Bravo 43 (18, 5x6), A Morkel 2 Wow. Bravo sure came to the party. 43 off 18. He went nuts in the end. Last two overs, 40 runs. Gony ended up conceding 54 in his 4 overs. And Sudhindra conceded 46 off his 4. DC made a good start to their innings but they really lost it towards the end. It’s a small ground but the feeling is that CSK have too much on board. 2130 IST: CSK 147-6 after 17.5 overs R Jadeja hit wicket b Steyn 48 (29b 3x4 3x6) Jadeja 48 off 28 balls. Worth 2 million. Free shoes. They slip… hit-wicket and he loses his wicket. Hehe. Poor Jaddu but he’s done Dhoni and Srinivasan proud. Some big-hitting after a slow start. 2115 IST: CSK 120-5 after 14.5 overs MS Dhoni c Harris b Steyn 7 (9b) Dhoni’s still rusty. Tried to clear the infield, got caught. That was that. Nothing sensational about this. 2104 IST: CSK 94-4 after 12.2 overs S Badrinath c Chipli b Christian 25 (20b 3x4) Gone. Badri falls. Caught in the deep at the cover boundary. About time too. He needed to cut loose or get out. He tried, he always does. It just wasn’t good enough. Dhoni walks in next to a great ovation. 2053 IST: CSK 71-3 after 10 overs S Badrinath 11, R Jadeja 5 It’s an odd pair in the middle. Not exactly sloggers. No exactly power-hitters either. They are struggling to get the ball away and surely Dhoni is wishing he was out there in the middle. 2040 IST: CSK 63-3 after 8.1 overs F du Plessis c Christian b Sudhindra 39 (25b 1x4 4x6) And that’s the wicket DC wanted. Du Plessis holes out at long-on but he didn’t really have an option. This is T20, you just have to go for your shots at all times. 2039 IST: CSK 63-2 after 8 overs S Badrinath 5, F du Plessis 39 Du Plessis is dealing in sixes here, he has already hit 4 in his innings – all massive hits and looks good to hit plenty more. Technically correct and timing it well. 2029 IST: CSK 42-2 after 5.3 overs SK Raina c & b Christian 16 (12b 3x4) Raina falls. Christian gets his man. The left-hander skied that but Christian wanted that and he let everyone know about it. Big wicket because it brings S Badrinath to the middle. :) 2027 IST: CSK 38-1 after 5 overs S Raina 12, F du Plessis 23 Du Plessis finally starting to get going. He decided it was time – he was lucky at first. But then hammered a four, a six and another six off consecutive balls to kick start the innings. It was big, bit hitting. 2018 IST: CSK 15-1 after 3 overs S Raina 10, F du Plessis 2 Once again, Chennai haven’t got the desired start once again. The man who has been responsible in the previous editions was Vijay but he will need to fire again. For now, a lot will depend on Raina now. He’s got a lot to prove as well. 2006 IST: CSK 2-1 after 0.5 overs M Vijay b Ankit Sharma 2 (5b) What a start for Deccan and Anki Sharma. The ball pitched on the leg-stump and then viciously turned towards the off-stump. Vijay was a little careless but he just didn’t expect it to turn in the first over. Pre-game Time for Chennai to find their fire once again after losing to Mumbai Indians in the first match of the tournament. On the other hand, Deccan Chargers are without Kumar Sangakkara, and it is their first match of the tournament. They are not the strongest team but they will hope that ‘home’ advantage works in their favour. DC had a practice match in Vizag and that will help them figure out the dynamics of the new stadium. [/caption] Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to bowl first. CSK were looking to do the same. “The ball was swinging a bit in practice but our decision is based more on the dew factor,” said DC skipper Cameron White. “That is why we elected to bowl first.” On the other hand, Dhoni believes the back-to-back games will help his side. “We were a little rusty in the first game and didn’t make the most of the home match but it can happen in this format. Having back-to-back games gives us a chance to gather some momentum.” Squads: Deccan Chargers team DJ Harris, S Dhawan, PA Patel†, B Chipli, CL White*, DT Christian, DB Ravi Teja, Ankit Sharma, MS Gony, TP Sudhindra, DW Steyn Chennai Super Kings team M Vijay, F du Plessis, SK Raina, DJ Bravo, S Badrinath, MS Dhoni*†, JA Morkel, RA Jadeja, R Ashwin, SB Jakati, DE Bollinger
