IPL as it happened: Sunrisers beat Mumbai by seven wickets

Click here for the live scorecard. Click here for the match report. 1910: Four out of four for SRH at Hyderabad. Dhawan and Vihari hitting a four each in the last couple of overs to finish it off quickly (before the latter fell). A wide from Kulkarni helped the home team on their way to the 130-run target. 1910: Wicket! Vihari c Rayudu b Kulkarni 25 (23b, 2x4, 0x6): Vihari tries to pull it away but cannot get enough bat on it. He’s taken at short midwicket. He was dropped on the ball before he fell, with Pollard injuring his little finger as he went for a diving catch. That could be a big blow for MI. SRH are 127-3 after 17.2 overs. 1900: Is there any doubt that Dhawan is a top batsman? He’s made Mitchell Johnson look ordinary with a swat through point and a pull shot to end the over. The second four didn’t even have any power - it was just caressed into the gap at square-leg. SRH are 106-2 after 15 overs. 1855: Fifty for Dhawan: That’s his second half-century in three matches. He brings it up with a four over covers. This one took 40 balls (6x4, 1x6) and he should certainly take SRH past the finishing line today. 1845: Excellent over for SRH! Dwayne Smith gets a dose of his own medicine as Dhawan and Vihari both target him. Dhawan scores a four on either side of the wicket and sandwiched between them is Vihari’s thwack over mid-wicket. SRH now 79-2 after 12 overs. 1835: Sanga was looking really good and his wicket has slowed down the run-chase for Sunrisers — as evident with two overs without a boundary. They don’t need them too much though It’s 61-2 after 10 overs and the hosts need 69 runs from 60 balls. 1825: Wicket! Sangakkara c & b Harbhajan Singh 21 (21b, 3x4, 0x6): Soft… very soft dismissal. The ball stops a bit and Sanga’s punch just loops towards Harbhajan - who doesn’t make a mistake. Came at the wrong time, that, for SRH. It’s 53-2 after eight overs. 1820: There we go! Some quality shots being played by the two lefties at the crease. Sangakkara cuts two fours in a row in Harbhajan’s over before Dhawan follows suit - finding the gap perfectly in Ojha’s over. SRh are 43-1 after seven overs. 1810: Rayadu stops a certain boundary as Dhawan drives Malinga in style. SRH are under a bit of pressure - they’ve managed to put just 25 runs on the board with five overs gone. Sangakkara has opened his boundaries account with a well-timed flick. 1800: Wicket! Reddy c Smith b Johnson 7 (9b, 1x4, 0x6): Half-a-shot from Reddy and it’s gone straight to Smith at extra-cover. SRH are 16-1 after 2.2 overs. 1755: Three fours already in this innings - two from Dhawan and one from Reddy as Sunrisers start off on a positive note. Judging by the target, they should comfortable get there if things continue in this fashion. It’s 16-0 after two overs. Sunrisers Hyderabad need 130 runs to beat Mumbai Indians. 1735: Has all that good work been undone? Rayadu smacks two fours before Pollard hammers another one through the off-side. Thisara Perera has given away 16 runs in that last over. MI finish at 129-4. 1725: Excellent stuff from the SRH bowlers. Rayadu pulls away another four, but it’s been very hard to score against this attack. Even the mighty Pollard is struggling. It’s 113-4 after 19 overs. 1715: There’s been just one four in the last three overs - Rayadu taking advantage of the width afforded to him by Steyn and slapping one through point. It’s now time to start hitting big - MI are 95-4 after 16 overs. 1700: Wicket! Smith lbw b Mishra 38 (40b, 3x4, 2x6): Oh unlucky. That has hit the gloves before the pads as Smith slips while playing his shot. Ishant must have heaved a sigh of relief. MI are 79-4 after 12.5 overs.

Amit Mishra (90 wkts) is now the highest wicket-taker in IPL. His wicket of Dwayne Smith takes him past Lasith Malinga's tally of 89 wkts

1655: Wicket! Sharma c I Sharma b Mishra 22 (22b, 2x4, 0x6): Redemption! No mistakes this time from Ishant as he takes Rohit’s catch at long-off. MI are 74-3 after 12.1 overs. 1650: Dropped! Ishant gets a golden chance to dismiss Smith - who didn’t quite middle his slog. Instead he misjudges the catch and helps it over the ropes for six. That should have been taken. MI are 69-2 after 11 overs. 1640: Excellent over rate from SRH - nine overs already gone in just about 45 minutes of play. Smith has crashed a four past Sharma, but Amit Mishra has kept it tight at the other end. It’s 53-2, with Rohit (11) and Smith (24) in the middle.

I can watch Rohit Sharma bat endlesly...if only he would bat long enough outside of T20 too

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

1635: They’re playing safe now, Mumbai. Those two quick wickets have jolted them after a fairly steady start. However, Rohit Sharma has shown his class with two supreme fours — one through point and the other through mid-on. MI are 42-2 after seven overs. 1625: Wicket! Karthik c KV Sharma b I Sharma 0 (2b, 0x4, 0x6): Big blow for Mumbai! Karthik slightly mistimes it and his uppish drive is taken at point. MI are 32-2 after 4.5 overs. 1620: Wicket! Tendulkar b I Sharma 14 (12b, 2x4, 0x6): Ugly, that was ugly. Seems like Sachin had decided he wants to dissect the gap at covers… the ball nips in, he misses and the leg stump goes flying. MI are 32-1 after 4.3 overs. 1617: Consecutive fours for Sachin! Steyn shackled him outside off-stump, but as soon as the ball came in a bit, the master flicked two beauties over mid-wicket. MI are 31-0 after four overs. Both batsmen are on 14*. 1610: Smith and Tendulkar see off Dale Steyn’s over before Ishant is brought into the attack. The Indian pacer gives away a free-hit and Smith has heaved it away for six. Maximum advantage taken. MI are 19-0 after three overs. 1600: Smith takes not time in settling down… in fact, he’s just smacked a four on the first ball over bowler KV Sharma’s head. He then plays out the rest of the over. It’s 6-0 after one over. Mumbai XI: D Smith, S Tendulkar, D Karthik, RG Sharma, K Pollard, A Rayudu, H Singh, M Johnson, L Malinga, D Kulkarni, P Ojha Sunrisers XI: S Dhawan, AP Reddy, K Sangakkara, H Vihari, T Perera, D Sammy, AA Reddy, K Sharma, A Mishra, D Steyn, I Sharma Mumbai Indians have won the toss and will bat first. Preview: Sunrisers Hyderabad have very little time to recover from back-to-back losses as they face another formidable challenge in the star-studded  Mumbai Indians  in their Pepsi  IPL  clash at the Rajiv Gandhi cricket stadium on Wednesday. The hosts would need to get their act together, especially in batting, to give the tough MI a run for their money and regain the impressive form they showed in the first half of the tournament. [caption id=“attachment_743827” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Karthik has been one of Mumbai's top performers. BCCI](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Karthik_BCCI.jpg) Karthik has been one of Mumbai’s top performers. BCCI[/caption] MI have 12 points from nine matches, while Sunrisers have 10 from nine games. The collective might of Smith, Pollard, Rohit Sharma and Tendulkar would make for an extremely tough challenge for the Sunrisers. MI’s bowling department is also star-studded with the presence of Lasith Malinga,  Harbhajan Singh  and the likes of Dhawal Kulkarni and Mitchell Johnson. But the Sunrisers would bank on the proverbial home advantage to upstage the giants that the Mumbai Indians are. Preview via PTI
