IPL molestation case: Police questions KP Appanna

Little known left-arm spinner KP Appanna has been identified as the cricketer who accompanied Royal Challengers Bangalore cricketer Luke Pomersbach to a woman’s room almost an hour after the Australian cricketer had allegedly molested the woman and assaulted her fiance.

Statements by a hotel security guard, the victim and security camera footage have revealed that Appanna and Pomersbach went to the woman’s room during the early hours of 18 May, the Indian Express reported .

Appanna has reportedly told the police that he had gone to the woman’s  room to check if team owner Sidhartha Mallya was also involved in the incident.

Curiously enough, Mallya is facing legal troubles of his own over the incident after tweeting about the victim’s character claiming she was “all over him”  at the post-IPL match party and was being idiotic by filing a case against Pomersbach. The victim had sent a legal notice to Mallya seeking an apology.

Appanna has played seven matches in this year’s IPL in which he took six wickets.

The woman has also reportedly filed a complaint alleging that foreign players from the Royal Challengers Bangalore team had threatened her and asked her to withdraw the case against their teammate.

She had filed a case of assault and outraging the modesty of a woman against Pomersbach.

Pomersbach is now reportedly in Mumbai and could be called back for further questioning in the case. The Australian cricketer was granted bail by a Delhi court on Saturday but was asked to submit his passport to the court.
