Has Delhi Police botched up the entire spot fixing case against S Sreesanth and other two players by slapping MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) charges that are suitable only for perpetrators of organised crime? Maxwell Pereira, ex-DGP of Delhi Police, said that there could be two possibilities if the court had given them bail virtually slamming the police for their supposed high-handedness. Speaking to CNN-IBN, he said, “Now there are two set of actions - which of the two courts have applied their mind under the MCOCA. Has the judge applied his mind to give bail or is the magistrate showing his power? [caption id=“attachment_864441” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Has the Delhi Police made a fool of themselves? PTI[/caption] He also said, “The misreadings of the sections have been added to the case. It makes it difficult for them to get bail. The applications of MCOCA sections need not be wrong. It indicates the functioning of the syndicate. Even if you are remotely connected you are attracted by the law.” Defence lawyer Pinaki Misra said, “There is a high degree of scrutiny in the judicial system The hollow claims of the Delhi Police and the desire to cover themselves in glory has been exposed. They had no case under MCOCA and what happened in court was total farce.” He also said, “If you cannot keep someone behind bars then will you contrive any law to prove someone guilty? The CBI claims that they have a five second clip of Dawood Ibrahim. It is hard to believe given that he manages to fix only two of the measly players supposed - then it is a joke.”
