As more details come out from police sources about the IPL spot-fixing scam involving former Indian pace bowler S Sreesanth, interesting information about how he spent the money is now coming to light.
CNN-IBN quoted Delhi police sources as saying that Sreesanth had bought a whopping Rs 1.95 lakh worth of Diesel brand clothes in Mumbai, and had paid for them in cash. However the identification of bills for the purchased items is still on.
Other purchased items reportedly include a Blackberry Z10 which was bought for the cricketer's girlfriend. "Based on Sreesanth's information we have made recoveries from the house of a lady friend in Jaipur", the channel quoted one of the Delhi police sources as saying.
Sreesanth along with two others was remanded to police custody for another five days, after police said that they needed more time to uncover additional details of the spot-fixing scam.
Police also formally arrested a former domestic player Babu Rao Yadav, who was picked up from Delhi yesterday and questioned for his links with arrested player Ajit Chandila, in the case. With this, 18 people have been arrested for their alleged roles in spot-fixing in IPL matches.
Police also said they have collected voice samples of nine of the 18 accused, including that of Sreesanth, Ankit Chavan and Chandila. They are also in the process of taking handwriting samples of the three players.
