The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has responded to the Supreme Court’s orders to chart a course of action in light of the IPL spot-fixing scam and allegations against suspended president N Srinivasan by proposing a three-member probe panel to investigate. The probe panel will comprise of RK Raghavan, Ravi Shastri and JN Patel. JN Patel The 64-year-old practised for 12 years in Civil, Criminal and Constitutional matters in the District and the High Court Bench at Nagpur. He was appointed as Designated Judge to try cases under TADA (P) Act 1987 at Mumbai from 1992-1993 and later in the year, was Designated Judge of the Special Court constituted to try the Bombay bomb blast case. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court in 1996 and made permanent judge in 1997. He is also the former Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court. Ravi Shastri Shastri is a former Indian captain and a popular commentator on the game. The all-rounder is known for batting in all positions from 1 to 11 and was the first Indian to hit six sixes in an over. Shastri has been associated with cricket even after his retirement — holding official positions in the BCCI and ICC. Shastri is contracted by the BCCI for a commentator’s role during India’s cricket matches.
The probe panel will comprise of RK Raghavan, Ravi Shastri and JN Patel.
