PREVIEW: After going down to Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) in their last match, Delhi Daredevils (DD) will aim to bounce back when they take on bottom-placed Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter in Mohali on Saturday. The Daredevils’ attempt to make four changes in the side, including leaving out skipper Zaheer Khan, on Thursday did not pay off against an inspired all-round effort from the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Pune side, which clinched the tie by seven wickets. Despite the loss, Delhi still have the upper hand in Friday’s match against a struggling Kings XI Punjab, who are languishing at the bottom of the table with just two wins from eight outings. [caption id=“attachment_2699570” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Delhi Daredevils captain Zaheer Khan (right). BCCI[/caption] Placed at the third spot in the table with five wins from eight, Daredevils will once again bank on their horses-for-courses strategy, with the top players likely to return to the side for the match. The team has either rested or replaced all its players except the trio of leg-spinner Amit Mishra, keeper-batsman Sanju Samson and top-order batsman Karun Nair in its eight matches so far. Delhi would hope that Zaheer gets back into action quickly as he has managed to get early breakthroughs and has been impressive in the death overs in some of the matches. Another man who was missed is batting mainstay Quinton De Kock, who has been scoring runs consistently. De Kock was given a much-needed rest so that he could cope with the gruelling schedule. Youngsters Samson and Rishabh Pant will need to play big knocks to make an impact. On the other hand, the Kings XI Punjab side have neither shown stomach for a fight nor any kind of proper homework to take on the opposition. Replacing David Miller as skipper of the side, have done little wonders to the fortune of the side in the tournament which they would hope for on Saturday. Punjab’s new skipper Murali Vijay, who played with three foreign recruits in their last match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, would also hope South African Hashim Amla’s inclusion in the playing eleven to boost the batting, which has failed to click as a unit in the tournament so far.

That’s it! Kings XI Punjab win by 9 runs
Brilliant effort with the bat and the ball by the Kins XI Punjab. Both their batting and bowling did well at the start and end of both the innings. The win keeps Kings XI Punjab in the hunt for the play-offs. Delhi Daredevils must now regroup and analyze what went wrong for them in Mohali today.
OUT! Dangerous Brathwaite goes CR Brathwaite c Gurkeerat Singh b Sandeep Sharma 12 (6b 1×4 1×6)
Huge wicket for Kings XI Punjab. The dangerous Brathwaite is held in the deep. Good ploy from the Kings, forcing Brathwaite to pull towards the longest boundary in the ground
OUT! SW Billings c †Saha b Stoinis 6
Delhi Daredevils are losing the plot. Stoinis with a splendid over tilts the balance in Kings XI Punjab’s favour. Delhi need 40 runs from the last three overs
OUT! Millers holds on this time KK Nair c Miller b Cariappa 23
Nair who was trying to get the scoreboard moving perishes while trying to clear the long off boundary. Miller makes no mistakes while holding on to the catch this time
After 15 overs Delhi Daredevils 133/2 (Karun Nair 23, Sam Billings 2)
The required run rate has reached ten runs per over and Delhi need someone to really accelerate now
OUT! SV Samson c Maxwell b Stoinis 49
Samson departs just one short of his fifty and Kings XI Punjab get his wicket at the vital juncture in the game. Samson was looking threatening and the game is back in the balance
After 10 overs,Delhi 91/1 ( Sanju Samson 28 , Karun Nair 8)
Kings XI Punjab have managed to keep a tab on the scoring after De Kock’s dismissal, but Delhi still have nine wickets in hand. However, Delhi Daredevils need to keep an eye on the required run rate which is closing on 10 runs per over. Sanju Samson holds the key for the Daredevils here
After 6 overs,Delhi 51/0 ( Quinton de Kock (W) 37 , Sanju Samson 12)
Quinton De Kock has got Delhi Daredevils moving after a slow start. The key for Delhi Daredevils is that they haven’t lost a wicket yet and that might be a worry for Kings XI Punjab
First 180+ total for KXIP in this IPL. Now each team has scored at least one 180+ total in this IPL. #KXIPvDD

After 3 overs,Delhi 16/0 ( Quinton de Kock (W) 8 , Sanju Samson 7)
Slow start from Delhi Daredevils, chasing 182. The Kings XI Punjab bowlers have some plenty of discipline as the pressure is mounting on the Daredevils.
Good show by Punjab tho contributions from Amla, Maxwell and Miller were not substantial. Big test for Delhi's young batting line up
— Cricketwallah (@cricketwallah) May 7, 2016
After 20 overs,Punjab 181/5 ( David Miller 11 , Axar Patel 16)
Kings XI Punjab will be very happy with the score. Saha and Stoinis’ fifties were the key before late cameos from Axar Patel and Maxwell helping the home side to a very good total. De;lhi Daredevils will need to bat very well to get to this target
OUT! Shami strikes now WP Saha c Morris b Mohammed Shami 52
Both set batsman back in the hut at the worst possible time for Kings XI Punjab. Delhi Daredevils now have a great chance of restricting the Kings under 170
OUT! Morris strikes G Maxwell b Morris 16 (11b 0x4 1×6)
Brilliant yorker from Chris Morris to knock Maxwell’s stumps.
After 17 overs,Punjab 147/3 ( Wriddhiman Saha (W) 49 , Glenn Maxwell 15)
Saha and Maxwell have got in and look in good nick to get Kings XI Punjab to a score of over 170
After 14 overs,Punjab 106/3 ( Wriddhiman Saha (W) 24 , Glenn Maxwell 0)
Stoinis departed after making a well made fifty, but that has brought in Maxwell to the crease. With just six overs left, the stage is set for Maxwell to explode
OUT! Stoinis departs M Stoinis c Samson b Khan 52
Just after getting his fifty Stoinis is caught at long on trying accelerate the scoring
After 11 overs,Punjab 80/2 ( Marcus Stoinis 35 , Wriddhiman Saha (W) 15)
Stoinis has done well to anchor the Kings XI Punjab innings and provide a good platform for them to start an onslaught in the death overs. The Daredevils need wickets to keep the hosts down to a chasable score
Hashim Amla’s run out
OUT! Finally Delhi Daredevils get Amla run out! HM Amla run out 1 (5b 0x4 0x6)
Amla slips while trying to get back into the crease after being sent back from Stoinis. Amla’s debut for Kings XI Punjab is fairly short-lived
After 6 overs,Punjab 45/1 ( Marcus Stoinis 16 , Hashim Amla 0)
Delhi Daredevils have got rid off Murali Vijay just before the powerplay ended. But Kings Xi Punjab have got off to a good start in the first six overs. Hashim Amla is out in the middle making his Kings XI Punjab debut. What can the veteran batsman bring to the table for the Kings?
OUT! Brathwaite takes a blinder M Vijay c Brathwaite b Morris 25
Morris dismisses the Kings XI captain Murali Vijay. But all plaudits must go to Brathwaite for an absolutely cracking catch
After 3 overs,Punjab 24/0 ( Murali Vijay (C) 17 , Marcus Stoinis 7)
Good steady start from Kings Xi Punjab with captain Murali Vijay leading from the front. Punjab must now build a solid platform for the likes of Maxwell to explode and take Kings XI Punjab to a huge first innings score
