The South African Cricketers’ Association (SACA) has expressed its disappointment at today’s joint announcement by Cricket South Africa (CSA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that confirmed India’s tour to South Africa will be a shortened-one. In a media statement, Tony Irish, SACA’s chief executive, said, “This is a huge blow not only to the players but also to the cricket loving public of South Africa." The two-Test series was unlikely to end with a conclusive result, the release said. [caption id=“attachment_1187351” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Representational image. AFP. [/caption] The release also said that it was very disheartening that on field events were getting affected by off-field events, referring to CSA’s reported decision to suspend its CEO, Haroon Lorgat, from dealing with matters related to the BCCI. The shortened tour, many believe, will result in a major financial hit for the South African board. CSA and the BCCI have today announced that the South Africa cricket team will play against India in an upcoming home series comprising of two Test matches and three One Day International matches, the specific dates and details of which will be announced in due course. The original schedule announced by CSA in July included three Tests, seven ODIs and two T20s.
