The Indian pacer bagged 5 wickets in the three T20 matches between India and England at a measly economy rate of 6.27. India had long been struggling in the bowling department, often failing in the death overs. But Bumrah with his precision bowling and sheer tenacity has made this shortcoming a thing of the past. He carried the fortune of the Indian team on his shoulders and led them to a glorious victory.

The lanky twenty-three-year-old Gujarat native was never your conventional seam bowler. His unusual bowling action has raised a lot of eyebrows in the domestic and the international circuit.  John Wright, Mumbai Indians’ coach, was the first one to identify Jasprit Bumrah’s talent. He later picked him for the Mumbai Indians’ squad.

Jasprit Bumrah made quite an impression with his splendid performance in his first IPL match for Mumbai Indians almost four years ago. It wasn’t smooth sailing for the young bowler in the first over and the commentators were expressing their reservations regarding his bowling action. But the next couple of overs by Bumrah took everyone by surprise. The pacer snapped three wickets in his four overs including that of Virat Kohli!

The same commentators that were expressing their reservations about Bumrah later lauded him for his performance. Even the great Amitabh Bachchan was in awe of young Bumrah.

In the post-match ceremony, Mumbai Indians’ skipper Ricky Ponting said, “He's got a different type of action, he's got a short run-up and bowls pretty lively pace and creates different angles. He bowls from wide of the crease and swings the ball in. We just thought that he could be a real wicket-taking option for us in these conditions, so we gave him an opportunity today. He was probably a bit nervous in his first over, but got wickets when we needed them.”

Opportunity’s mint stamps a unique imprint, and that’s exactly what Jasprit Bumrah did in the T20 Series against England where his bowling spells were no less than magical. The Jana Bankable Player of the Series was awarded to Jasprit Bumrah by the people for his dependable and consistent performance throughout the Series.  He took responsibility at each and every turn when team India needed him the most.

A Man of the Match or the Man of the Series mostly carries the fortune of the game on his shoulders thus creating an impact on the proceedings of the game. The Jana Bankable Player award celebrates that dependable player who the team can bank upon anytime. He delivers time and time again proving his mettle to the world.

The Jana Bankable Player is selected on the basis of a combination of votes and recommendation by a team of cricket experts. Vote for the Jana Bankable player for the upcoming India Vs Bangladesh starting on February 9th and stand a chance to win 2 free all-inclusive match tickets to the stadium.
