India's new coach will be selected before South Africa's tour: BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Anurag Thakur said that India’s new coach will be selected before South Africa’s tour starts in September. The Proteas will play four Tests, five ODIs and three T20Is during their 72-day long tour of India, and it seems that the BCCI has given the committee (comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman) a deadline to suggest a name for the chief coach’s role before it begins. Ibnlive[/caption] “Ravi Shastri has been the given the charge of the team till the Sri Lanka tour and BCCI will probably take a call on the coaching staff before the South Africa series. If the cricket committee suggests the name of a coach, the board will pursue it,” Thakur was quoted as saying in a Cricbuzz report. “If you want to hire someone for next 2-3 years, you have to look into details about who could be best in the interest of Indian cricket. We don’t want to take any decision in haste. After this series against Sri Lanka we still have a couple of months to go to take the final call on that,” said Thakur in another interview with ESPNCricinfo. Thakur also spoke on the suspension of Indian Premier League clubs Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals — and whether the BCCI has found a solution to the Lodha Committee verdict. “We are working everything out and trying to consider the best possible option for the IPL. Right now, we can’t reveal much. As far as BCCI is concerned, there is no apprehension about auctioning two new teams,” he told Cricbuzz Thakur sounded a warning to the Pakistan Cricket Board too, saying that attacks on India time and again reduces the possibility of a resumption of cricketing ties between the two countries.
