The Indian Super League's second season final will be hosted by Goa on 20 December 2015 — acting as a curtain-raiser for Christmas and New year festivities in India's favourite party destination.
The match will be played at the Fatorda Stadium, home of FC Goa.
The state's tryst with football is well established in the country — and has produced exciting footballers — many of whom are currently playing for various ISL clubs. The venue also means added motivation for FC Goa, who made the semifinals last year.
Mrs. Nita Ambani, Founder & Chairperson of ISL promoters Football Sports Development Ltd said: "We felt it would be apt to award the ISL 2015 finale to Goa as an ode to the state’s passion for football. The fun–loving, football–crazy Goa will be a perfect destination for Indian football’s greatest party. Indian Super League is delighted to offer an exciting blend of football and festive spirit in celebration of the beautiful game.”
ISL 2015 kicks off on 3 October with the opening match between defending champions Atletico de Kolkata and Chennaiyin FC in Chennai. The league stage will witness 56 games followed by a two-legged knock-out round to finally culminate in Goa.
The 10-week football extravaganza recorded 1.58 million match attendance in its first season – achieving a rare feat of the league becoming the fourth largest attended football event in the world.
ISL's inaugural season was watched by a record 429 million viewers on TV throughout the country, being broadcast live by Star India in five language across eight channels.
