India and Bangladesh square off in a one-off Test at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium in Uppal, Hyderabad starting Thursday, with the occasion being a historic one due to it being the latter's maiden Test in their neighbouring country.

Bangladesh gained Test status in the year 2000, and their first-ever Test was against India — the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) being instrumental in upgrading them to the elite status. Since then, the two sides have faced each other on eight occasions in Test cricket, with the Indians winning six of those. Two games ended in a draw, including the last meeting between the two in the summer of 2015, that got rained off.

The Indians are strong favourites for an easy victory in the upcoming match, having whitewashed New Zealand 3-0 before inflicting a 4-0 hammering on the Alastair Cook-captained England in the subsequent series. The destructive spin pair of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have caused most of the destruction with the ball, with their exploits propelling them to the first and second position in the ICC Test bowlers' rankings. While the two have also had useful contributions with the bat, captain Virat Kohli has been the forerunner, having hammered three double-tons last year including his career-best 235 against England in Mumbai.

Bangladesh though, will draw inspiration from their series-levelling victory over England in the second Test in Dhaka, in which spinner Mehedi Hasan and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan spun the team to victory, with the former recording figures of 6/82 and 6/77 in an incredible display to bag the 'Man of the Match' as well as 'Man of the Series' awards.

While Bangladesh will certainly start as underdogs in this match, the Indians will only take them lightly at their own expense.

India vs England, T20 World Cup 2021 Warm-up Match Highlights: India beat England by seven wickets

India vs England, T20 World Cup warm-up match, Live Updates: Chris Jordan to bowl. too straight from Jordan, and it's in the perfect slot for Hardik, who drills it between mid-off and extra cover for four! Great start to the over for India. Good ball, almost wide but not quite and it's a dot. Low full toss into Pandya's knees. He could have taken the single, but he chooses to stay on strike. Oh, very poor delivery from Jordan. That was wide and high, and it also ran away for four without making any contact with Pandya's bat. Free hit signalled. Pandya gets a huge edge on it, and that's four! It flies over short third man! Another low full toss, and the India duo run a double. Oh my word, a no ball now, and Pandya takes a single. Terrible over this from Jordan. Pant to face a free hit now. India just need 3 from 7 balls. Pant could end it now. It's a six and India win by seven wickets!!
