After a drab draw in the opener, India dispatched Japan 2-0 in the second game of the four match hockey Test series here today.

Yuvraj Walmiki and Dharamvir Singh scored for the home team.

The match had a cracking start where both teams came out attacking.

While Japan were looking for a calculative move to enter into the Indian side with their long passes, the hosts were ready to defend and created an initial opening. Despite the efforts of the home team, no goals were scored in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, both teams played defensively, waiting for the right moment to strike.

Despite positive play from Japan, India took the lead in the 27th minute when Yuvraj Walmiki gave a fine pass to S K Uthappa, who flawlessly struck a delightful field goal.

India tried to build pressure on the opponent team in the third quarter, making some lovely moves and interceptions.

Amidst a well organised defense by both teams, the third quarter remained goal-less.

The Indian team was seen attacking from the right flank in the fourth quarter. Japan made quick moves and continued to restrict the opponent to get into the circle until Dharamvir effortlessly breached the defence in the 48th minute, landing the ball into the nets taking for the decisive 2-0 lead.
