Dhiraj Bommadevara enjoyed a Super Sunday in Antalya, Turkey, winning bronze in the men’s individual recurve event as well as in the mixed team event with Bhajan Kaur, taking the country’s medal tally at the Archery World Cup Stage 3 to four in the process.

Bommadevara and Kaur defeated Mexico’s Alejandra Valencia and Matias Grande to win the mixed team bronze. Bommadevara would later go on to defeat Italy’s Mauro Nespoli to achieve a similar result in the individual event.

The Indian pair was trailing 0-2 after conceding the first set before drawing level with a flawless round and eventually seal a stunning 5-3 (35-38, 40-39, 38-37, 38-38) over the Mexican pair of Alejandra Valencia and Matias Grande.

The pair had received a bye in the first round and later defeated Great Britain 5-1. They would defeat Brazil by a similar margin in the quarter-finals before going down 3-5 against South Korea in the semis.

While Bommadevara signed off with a medal in the men’s individual event, Ankita Bhakat suffered a 2-6 loss against China’s Yang Xiaolei in the women’s individual recurve semi-finals before losing the bronze medal playoff 2-7 against Mexico’s Valencia.

The trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Swami and Parneet Kaur had helped India win gold in the women’s compound event on Saturday with Priyansh winning silver in the men’s individual event on the same day.

Jyothi, Aditi and Parneet had defeated Estonia’s Lisell Jaatma, Meeri-Marita Paas and Maris Tetsmann 232-229 in the gold medal match.
