'If only Pakistan had a Kohli and India had an Amir': Twitter reacts to Amir's fiery spell in Asia Cup

India continued their golden run in Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket as well as their unbeaten run in the ongoing Asia Cup after beating Pakistan by five wickets with 27 balls to spare.

The match however, was about two individuals — Virat Kohli and Mohammad Amir — and their brilliance, which was crucial in boosting their respective side's chances of clinching the game. The duo were outstanding in their approach — while Amir exposed the Indian top-order with a spell of a lifetime, Kohli produced yet another masterclass of an innings under immense pressure to help setup the win for the 'Men in Blue'.

Pakistan were shot out for a paltry 83, thanks to some sloppy batting from the inconsistent lineup as well as some disciplined bowling from the likes of Hardik Pandya (3/8), as well as the left-arm spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja (2/11) and Yuvraj Singh (1/11). The running between the wickets was also comical, as was evident in the run-out of Khurram Manzoor.

It was left for someone like Amir to make a game out of the situation despite the low target. He got rid of openers Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane with a couple of inswingers, leaving India reeling at 2 for 2 at the end of the first over, before dismissing Suresh Raina in his second over. It was upto Kohli to produce one of his best knocks to date to rescue India out of the situation by seeing Amir off, before flexing his arms against the likes of Wahab Riaz.

The match was especially special for someone like Mohammad Amir, for whom it was a crucial occasion in order to prove that he still had the old brilliance in him, as well as win back the support of his teammates as well as fans. While the Twitterverse exploded over the match, a tremendous amount of focus was on Amir as well. Here is a compilation of some of the best tweets posted about Amir and his exhilarating spell of swing bowling during the match:
