Saina Nehwal admitted that she made more mistakes than usual in her loss to world number one Yihan Wang in the Olympics badminton semifinals today. One of India’s prime medal hopes, Saina lost 13-21, 13-21 to the Chinese in a match where she failed to produce her best. I should have played out better rallies and made fewer simple errors,” she said. Saina has very good anticipation instincts, but she admitted that they were not working: “I made a lot of judgement errors. Pullela Gopichand was asking me to calm down but it was not happening.” All is not lost for the shuttler though. She will play China’s Xin Wang tomorrow for the bronze medal. In their past six meeting, Saina has won only twice. “We’ll prepare better for tomorrow’s match,” she said.
