Serena Williams has won three Grand Slams this year, and if she wins the US Open she will win the Calendar Grand slam. While people should be celebrating her success, there are some who have been body shaming her on the internet. Be it sportspersons or actors, celebrities, especially women, are often at the receiving end of a lot of body shaming and general hatred on social media. But Serena doesn’t care, because she has “grand slams to win.” [caption id=“attachment_2419514” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Serena Williams. Getty Images[/caption] In an interview to Good Morning America a confident Serena dismissed all the body shamers saying, “I just don’t have time to be brought down. I have too many things to do, you know. I have Grand Slams to win. I have people to inspire. And that’s what I’m here for.” Earlier, author of Harry Potter JK Rowling too had jumped to Serena’s defence. A man on Twitter had said this:
@jk_rowling @hansmollman ironic then that main reason for her success is that she is built like a man

And Rowling’s reply was absolutley kickass:
.@diegtristan8 "she is built like a man". Yeah, my husband looks just like this in a dress. You're an idiot. pic.twitter.com/BCvT10MYkI

#SerenaSlam! I love her. What an athlete, what a role model, what a woman!

Meanwhile Serena also told Good Morning America, “I’ve been like this my whole life, and I embrace me and I love how I look. I love that I am a full woman, and I’m strong and I’m powerful and I’m beautiful at the same time. And there’s nothing wrong with that.” Of course there is nothing wrong with that. And her words of wisdom have inspired us too.
