Sebastian Vettel wins his first Hungarian Grand Prix! Daniil Kvyat is second, with Red Bull team-mate Daniel Ricciardo in third. Vettel pays tribute to Ferrari academy driver Jules Bianchi who “one day would have been a part of the team.”  Ricciardo, one of Jules’ closest friends on the grid also dediates his podium to “Jules and his family.”

Unbelievable. Thanks to the events of the afternoon, Daniel Kvyat it seems is going to be on his very first podium. Two laps to go.
July 26, 2015, 19:28:41 (IST)
Lap 64: What is going on!! Ricciardo has crashed into another Mercedes today! He runs deep and tries to get round in time to hold position. He hits Rosberg and Rosberg has a puncture! This is bad for the German who was looking good to lead the driver’s championship. Not anymore it seems.
July 26, 2015, 19:24:35 (IST)
Lap 60: What is Pastor Maldonado doing!?!? Another investigation involving poor Maldonado – this time for overtaking behind the safety car! It could be a third penalty for the unlucky driver.
July 26, 2015, 19:20:01 (IST)
We may have a new championship leader after this race! if Rosberg finishes second or better, and Hamilton doesn’t score any points, the German will lead the driver’s championship. Who’d have thought it?

There’s a major shuffle going on at the restart of the Hungarian Grand Prix! Vettel mosves away from the pack with the lead. Kimi Raikkonen who we knew would be in hot soup at the re-start meanwhile gets overtaken by Rosberg. No surprise there. Lewis Hamilton Tanks and how! Ricciardo gets off to a great start pushing hard to get round Hamilton and BOOM! Collission. Ricciardo runs wide, and Hamilton has damaged his wing! Hamilton, drops down to sixth!

Ferrari to Raikkonen: “The situation with the MGU-K is we don’t have it. The car will still run, but we have lost a lot of performance”

Uh-oh this does not sound good for the Finn.

Lap 44: A rough and tough weekend for Force India, with Pérez’s awful crash in practice and Hulkenberg now crashing out. Rosberg pits, followed by Vettel, taking advantage of the safety car, which has switched from virtual to actual. Lots of debris from the Force India car on the track right now.

Lap 26: Hamilton runs wide, and is currently suffering understeer problems. Is it a problem with the car? Or a problem with his driving? Or is he just stressed out? He’s within a second of Ricciardo’s Toro Rosso, who has switched to harder tyres, looks like he will be overtaken by the faster merc soon.

Lap 9: Replays show Lewis Hamilton’s complaint of being pushed wide clearly uncalled for. Just a minor whine from the British driver.

Lap 2: The last time someone won the Hungarian GP from pole was Nico Rosberg. Absolutely terrible start from pole sitter Hamilton who is fighting to get back into position, runs wide – and he tells his team radio that Rosberg cut across his racing line! Hamilton down to P10.

BUDAPEST: Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton took pole position for the Hungarian Grand Prix on Saturday with a blistering lap more than half a second faster than downcast Mercedes team mate Nico Rosberg. The two title rivals will line up together on the front row on Sunday, with Ferrari’s four times champion Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull’s Australian 2014 race winner Daniel Ricciardo behind them on the second row. The pole was Hamilton’s ninth in 10 races this season, the 47th of his career and left the Briton perfectly placed for a fifth career win at the Hungaroring. AFP Photos.[/caption] Hamilton leads Rosberg by 17 points before a race that marks the halfway point of the season. “I’m incredibly happy with the weekend, I can’t remember having a performance as good as this,” said Hamilton, who has now been on pole five times in Hungary and went fastest in all three practice sessions. “I’m liking the weather, loving the city. I love the track, it feels a bit like an old go-kart circuit that we used to race on many years ago.” Rosberg, who has won three times to Hamilton’s five victories this season, was on pole in Hungary last year but had no response to his team mate this time on a hot and hazy afternoon. “I don’t have an explanation,” he said. “I just didn’t find the pace. It’s been a bit up and down all weekend, I’m definitely not happy with how it went today.” Behind the top four, Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen qualified fifth with fellow-Finn Valtteri Bottas lining up sixth for Williams. Red Bull’s Russian Daniil Kvyat and Brazilian Felipe Massa, for Williams, share the fourth row. McLaren, a team with an impressive record in Hungary, endured another tough afternoon with Fernando Alonso pushing his broken down car back to the pitlane likely to be one of the year’s enduring images. The second phase of qualifying was red-flagged to allow marshals to help the sweating Spaniard get the McLaren off the track. Alonso will line up in 15th place with team mate Jenson Button alongside in 16th. Both drivers took their first grand prix win in Hungary but even a point will be a bonus this time around. Reuters
