Indian men’s hockey team suffered their first defeat at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Thursday as defending champions Belgium scripted a comeback. India, who have already qualified for the quarter-finals, scored the first goal of the match but eventually went down 2-1 in a pool match.

Abhishek gave India the lead in the 18th minute before Belgium made a strong comeback after half-time to score through Thibeau Stockbroekx (33rd) and John-John Dohmen (44th) to seal the win and remain unbeaten in the tournament so far.
Belgium have also already qualified for the quarter-finals from Pool B.

India will next play Australia in their final pool match on Friday.
