The India men’s hockey team will begin their 2024 Paris Olympics campaign with a game against New Zealand on 27 July after the schedule was announced on Wednesday. India, who are in Pool B, will then face Argentina on 29 July, followed by Ireland on 30 July and clashes against Belgium and Australia on 1 and 2 August respectively.
India had clinched bronze medal in the postponed Tokyo Olympics in 2021 after defeating Germany 5-4 in the third place playoff match.
Pool A consists of the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, France, Great Britain and South Africa.
The quarterfinals will be played on 4 August with the semifinals on 6 August, while the bronze-medal playoff and the final will take place on 8 August.
The ceremony was held in the presence of International Olympic Committee chief Thomas Bach and FIH president Tayyab Ikram.
The matches will be taking place at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium in Colombes. Belgium are the defending champions in the men’s category.
