    IPL 2017: Jasprit Bumrah, Pandya brothers do the star turn as MI hand SRH their first defeat}

Who is the Man of the Match though? Is the presentation ceremony over without the award being given?

A hilarious moment as Ravi Shastri restarts the presentation ceremony and accepts that he forgot to give away the Man of Match.

Jasprit Bumrah adjudged the Man of the Match.

  • 23:54 (IST)

Despite a couple of hiccups towards the end, the victory was brought up by Mumbai far easier than expected. First win for Mumbai over Hyderabad in two years, and Mumbai have made a strong statement today, especially with the ball.

Mumbai are known for their slow starts, and by winning two of their first three games, they are on the right track at the moment.

  • 23:50 (IST)

    After 18.4 overs,Mumbai Indians 159/6 ( Hardik Pandya 2 , Harbhajan Singh 3)

Fizz to bowl the 19th over. Change of pace to start with. Harbhajan takes a copule off the second ball of the over. But Bhajji struggles to complete the second run, and it draws a laugh from Sachin Tendulkar. Old bones! The scores are level though. Harbhajan gets the winning runs to give Mumbai their second victory on the trot. Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat against KKR in the last match looks to have given Mumbai some momentum, but a bit of a jolt for the SRH caravan. There will be no hattrick of wins for the SRH. The defending champs, after two convincing wins in the first two matches, were convincingly beaten themselves by Mumbai. Nitish Rana's form as also those of the Pandya bothers again a huge positive for Mumbai. The Wankhede continues to be a fortress for the Mumbai Indians. For SRH, Rashid Khan continues to impress. What an IPL he is having!

  • 23:49 (IST)

Most wins at a venue in IPL:
33 by CSK at Chepauk, Chennai
33 by KKR at Eden Gardens
31 by MI at Wankhede Stadium
30 by RCB at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium

  • 23:45 (IST)

Krunal and Rana depart in quick succession towards the end, but they have done all the work in order to establish the foundation for a win. Looks like Hardik will get the honour of hitting the winning runs.

  • 23:43 (IST)

    After 18 overs,Mumbai Indians 155/6 ( Hardik Pandya 1 , Harbhajan Singh 0)

Mumbai almost there and Krunal looking to end it in this over itself. Hits Bhuvi way in the air to midwicket and holes out to Cutting. He perishes, but not before putting Mumbai on the road to victory. The last ball produces another wicket. A short of length delivery, Rana misses and gets his stumps rattled and the bails almost hits wicketkeeper Naman Ojha as he takes evasive action. Sachin Tendulkar seems anguished. Bhuvi has the Purple Cap now. Harbhajan is the new man in.

  • 23:40 (IST)

OUT! Nitish Rana gets knocked over by Bhuvi. Mumbai lose their sixth as they inch towards victory.

    Nitish Rana b Bhuvneshwar 45(36)

  • 23:36 (IST)

OUT! Krunal Pandya heaves that ball from Bhuvi, but holes out to Cutting at deep midwicket.

    Krunal Pandya c Cutting b Bhuvneshwar 37(20)

  • 23:35 (IST)

Krunal seems to have taken up the responsibility of getting Mumbai home, and connects beautifully to get a six and two boundaries off Cutting.

He might let Rana, who is 10 away from a 2nd successive fifty, get the strike more often.

Meanwhile, fans are starting to leave the stadium already (not sure if they're) Sunrisers supporters

  • 23:34 (IST)

    After 17 overs,Mumbai Indians 149/4 ( Nitish Rana 40 , Krunal Pandya 37)

Cutting comes back. Bowls it short and it goes the distance. Hammered by Krunal over mid wicket for a six. Wide outside off and Krunal goes over the in-field. Gets a boundary at cover. The next ball angles away from Krunal, who follows it and could have got an edge. Short ball again, Krunal turns it over the wicketkeeper for another four. Krunal takes a stride forward and looks to hammer it again. Doesn't get the timing and connection. But a good over for MI. 15 off that over. 10 runs needed off 18 balls now.

  • 23:33 (IST)

Bad evening for Ashish Nehra after a long long time in T20 cricket. The law of averages has caught up with him. Unfortunately for SRH it has come at a wrong time. They need almost need a miracle now. MI have never looked like bottling this chase.

  • 23:30 (IST)

    After 16 overs,Mumbai Indians 134/4 ( Nitish Rana 40 , Krunal Pandya 22)

Nehra to bowl the next over. Krunal gets a six and a four off two consecutive ball - a maximum over long on and then turns the next one to fine leg for a boundary. If Hardik doesn't get you, Krunal would. Nehra comes back with a good change of pace and the batsman misses. 25 runs neede off 24 balls now. Advantage well and truly in MI's favour.

  • 23:26 (IST)

    After 15 overs,Mumbai Indians 121/4 ( Nitish Rana 39 , Krunal Pandya 10)

Rashid back for his last over. Krunal plays one to third man. Fizz gives chase and pulls it back just before the fence. Two runs taken. But wonderful control from the Afghan youngster. But then a rare loose delivery. A juicy full toss and Krunal deposits the ball into the stands at square leg. Rashid finishes with a flat one. But he is terribly disappointed at himself having conceded that six. Fields off his own bowling and throws it back in anger. That could have hit Krunal. An overthrow taken. Krunal pats the Afghan leggie's back. Wonderful gesture. Nine runs from that over, but great figures for Rashid, who ends with 1/19. He deserves every praise that he is getting.

  • 23:25 (IST)

Rashid gets a bit excited and throws a ball at Krunal Pandya trying to get him run out. Krunal Pandya dodges, Rashid apologiges but it's too late for the Wankhede crowd who ring in the boos. The covering fielder misfields and MI get an extra run. The crowd love it. Not the best end to another good spell for the Afghan youngster.

  • 23:24 (IST)

Pollard's struggles continue after that soft dismissal - pulling it straight to Shikhar 'Gabbar' Dhawan's hands (was he not aware of the field placement?). Out comes the the older Pandya sibling Krunal, who hammers Rashid for a six over the square leg boundary.

Boos ring around the stadium at the end of the over, after Rashid aggressively throws the ball back at Krunal, resulting in an overthrow.

  • 23:20 (IST)

Bhuvneshwar picks up Pollard. It was pretty much a nothing innings from the West Indian. Now one feels perhaps he had too much time. SRH still behind in this game and need a couple of more wickets quickly to turn this game. The crowd have gone a bit quiet. Not surprised as the game is at such a stage where MI are not forcing the issue. The crowd would be hoping for a more explosive finish though. Some boundaries needed to get the crowd on their feet again.

  • 23:19 (IST)

    After 14 overs,Mumbai Indians 112/4 ( Nitish Rana 39 , Krunal Pandya 1)

Time for Bhuvi's medium pace again. Cramps Pollard for room. Bangs one in short and Pollard swivels and hits one straight to the hands of Dhawan at square leg. A bit od soft dismissal in the end. Krunal Pandya comes in to join Nitish Rana and the first delivery is another short one. Krunal pulls but finds the man at mid on. Just four runs from that over.

  • 23:15 (IST)

OUT! Pollard turns one straight to the hands of square leg.

    Pollard c Dhawan b Bhuvneshwar 11(11)

  • 23:12 (IST)

The flags are out back again after Pollard clobbers one over the midwicket boundary off Fizz, who is bowling from the Garware end in his second over. The Bangladeshi pacer has been extremely expensive today after coming off a good home series against Sri Lanka.

  • 23:12 (IST)

    After 13 overs,Mumbai Indians 108/3 ( Nitish Rana 37 , Kieron Pollard 11)

Fizz back into the attack. He will be looking to tighten things up after leaking 19 runs in his first over. Change of pace on the first ball, a cutter. Quietly played away by Pollard. Fizz to Rana. The batsman mistimes it, the ball goes in the air, but lands safely. Fizz to Pollard and the big West Indian just flicks his wrists and the ball soars into the stands over midwicket. What power and timing. Then a wide down leg side. Fizz, playing his first match of the tournament, is looking out of sorts.

  • 23:07 (IST)

    After 12 overs,Mumbai Indians 97/3 ( Nitish Rana 35 , Kieron Pollard 3)

Nehra back for his third over. Nehra is a bit on the shorter side in the first four balls. Changes the length in the fifth. An almost yorker length delivery, steered to third man by Pollard for a single. Follows it up with another short delivery, which is outside off and Rana slashed hard and gets a boundary at point.

  • 23:03 (IST)

    After 11 overs,Mumbai Indians 90/3 ( Nitish Rana 30 , Kieron Pollard 1)

Rashid Khan in for his third over. The MI batsmen milk him for ones an twos. Rashid uses the googly to his advantage. Five runs from that over.

  • 23:00 (IST)

Whether Parthiv needed to play that shot at this stage is debatable. Hardly middled that one after coming down the ground, with Bhuvneshwar completing a fine catch at long on.

The man to watch for though, is the in-form Nitish Rana, who hammers the ball into the second tier in the last ball of the 10th over to remind the SRH bowlers he still is a threat.

Pollard gets a rousing reception after walking out, and he will look to make up for the slow innings against KKR.

  • 23:00 (IST)

    After 10 overs,Mumbai Indians 85/3 ( Nitish Rana 27 , Kieron Pollard 0)

Deepak Hooda continues and gives SRH a much needed breakthrough. Parthiv Patel falls trying to chip the bowler. Holes out to Bhuvi at long on. A massive wicket for SRH and a timely one at that. Kieron Pollard comes in at the fall of that wicket. Big responsibility on him now. But it is Nitish Rana who is the centre of attention at the moment as he smokes one into the stands. At the halfway stage, Mumbai have an edge.

  • 23:00 (IST)

Deepak Hooda gives SRH a bonus wicket. Parthiv Patel threw it away after playing so well. But a huge cheer from the crowd is for Kieron Pollard. Not the worst time for him to come out. He can settle in and then go for big shots. However it's Nitish Rana who is looking very impressive yet again. Nobody apart from Rashid have looked threatening for SRH. Perhaps time to bring someone like a Nehra or Mustafizur for an over.

  • 22:54 (IST)

OUT! Parthiv lofts Hooda down the ground and holes out to Bhuvi at long on.

Parthiv Patel c Bhuvneshwar b Deepak Hooda 39(24)

  • 22:53 (IST)

    After 9 overs,Mumbai Indians 76/2 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 38 , Nitish Rana 19)

Warner calls upon Ben Cutting to try and give him a breakthrough. Parthiv has nine fifties in IPL and looks set for another. If they don't get Parthiv anytime soon, the match would quickly be out of SRH's grasp. Cutting to Rana. Chops one onto the ground. Could have gone on to the stumps. Only three runs off that over.

  • 22:51 (IST)

Most days to score 2000 runs in IPL:
    3280 - PARTHIV PATEL*
    2904 - Dwayne Smith
    2580 - Kieron Pollard
    2578 - Brendon McCullum
    2572 - Yuvraj Singh

  • 22:50 (IST)

Coach Moody walks out to the ground to have a chat with SRH, who have leaked far too many runs in the eight overs bowled till the first timeout. MI are 21 runs ahead when compared to SRH at the same stage.

  • 22:45 (IST)

    After 8 overs,Mumbai Indians 73/2 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 37 , Nitish Rana 17)

Right arm off spinner Deepak Hooda replaces Fizz. He is swept away by Parthiv for a boundary at backward square leg. The dimunitive wicketkeeper-batsman is playing a gem of an innings. A four and five singles in that over. And a strategic timeout is taken.

  • 22:42 (IST)

    After 7 overs,Mumbai Indians 64/2 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 35 , Nitish Rana 10)

Rashid Khan continues and pulls things back a bit for SRH after an expensive Fizz over. Concedes only three runs. Mumbai would do well to play out Rashid though.

  • 22:41 (IST)

Most innings to score 2000 runs in IPL:
    104 - PARTHIV PATEL*
    99 - Kieron Pollard
    95 - Yusuf Pathan
    93 - Dinesh Karthik
91 - Ambati Rayudu, Yuvraj Singh

  • 22:40 (IST)

    After 6 overs,Mumbai Indians 61/2 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 34 , Nitish Rana 8)

Mustafizur into the attack now. Another incredible talent. Fizz to Rana and that ball is aimed at Rana's head, the batsman somehow gets his bat to the ball and swats it over the boundary. Talk about big bats. Parthiv goes after Fizz now. Gets three fours on the trot. One a fine cut through point, the next cheekily guided over the wicketkeeper and the third turned round the corner. 19 runs from that over. Mumbai gallopping at the end of the first six overs.

  • 22:39 (IST)

Afghan spinner Rashid Khan, who has become something of a sensation already, strikes in his very first over to send the MI skipper back for a meagre 4.

Mustafizur, bowling from the other end, doesn't quite find as much success, as he gets carted for three consecutive fours and a six.

Parthiv gets an ovation from the fans  after completing 2,000 runs in the IPL.

  • 22:38 (IST)

Excellent to watch! Two youngsters with a big heart. Mustafizur playing his first match in this year's IPL bowls a vicious bouncer in his first ball. Nitish Rana MI's hero from the KKR game improvises at the last moment to send a six almost over the wicketkeepers' head. Fearless cricket by the two young stars!

  • 22:37 (IST)

And he strikes!! Rohit Sharma fails to read him completely and the mystery around him continues, so does Rohit Sharma's struggles as he gets back into his groove. The crowd sense Rashid is the danger man. There is an anxiety around Wankhede right now.

  • 22:36 (IST)

    After 5 overs,Mumbai Indians 42/2 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 22 , Nitish Rana 1)

Rashid Khan into the attack. What a success story Rashid Khan is turning out to be. Traps Rohit Sharma right in front of the stumps. That's out. And that's teh googly in action. Rashid is not just getting the wickets, he is getting the big fish out. He would have become a huge star by the time the IPL is over. He has the purple cap now. Nitish Rana is the new man in.

  • 22:31 (IST)

OUT! Rohit Sharma trapped in front of the stumps by Rashid Khan. Huge wicket for Mumbai.

Rohit lbw b Rashid Khan 4(4)

  • 22:31 (IST)

Rohit Sharma v SRH in IPL before today:

  • 22:29 (IST)

    After 4 overs,Mumbai Indians 39/1 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 21 , Rohit Sharma (C) 3)

Nehra to Buttler. The batsman jumps outside the leg stump, giving Nehra the charge, but misses and gets his stumps rattled. The good change of pace by Nehra, bringing all his experience into play. MI captain Rohit Sharma the next man in and immediately plays a good-looking shot on the off side. Warner dives to save a certain boundary. Parthiv gets two more boundaries off that over - one through a wristy flick and another a pull. Parthiv wants to end this early, it seems.

  • 22:27 (IST)

Back after a much-needed break (the facilities at Wankhede improving over the course of time), and we find Parthiv and Buttler getting Mumbai off to a quick start.

Until Nehra uses his experience to deceive Buttler with a slower ball, and rattle his stumps. The first time the English wicketkeeper batsman has been dismissed legitimately this tournament.

That brought the Sunrisers fans back on their feet. They have not been having the best of time so far, after their team squandered it away in the final four overs.

  • 22:23 (IST)

Most wickets by pacers in IPL:
    146 - Lasith Malinga
    122 - Dwayne Bravo
    102 - ASHISH NEHRA*
    101 - R Vinay Kumar
    97 - Zaheer Khan

  • 22:23 (IST)

OUT! Buttler bowled by Nehra. Mumbai lose their first wicket.

    Buttler b Nehra 14(11)

  • 22:21 (IST)

    After 3 overs,Mumbai Indians 28/0 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 13 , Jos Buttler 14)

Bhuvi continues and Buttler dismisses him from his presence, and gets a boundary. Parthiv gets a couple as he turns one off his pads. The Mumbai openers are looking really solid. Seven runs from that over.

  • 22:17 (IST)

    After 2 overs,Mumbai Indians 21/0 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 11 , Jos Buttler 9)

Nehra to bowl the second over. Nehra to Buttler. Inside edge and could well have gone on to the stumps. But Nehra concedes a four instead as the ball runs away to the fine leg fence. That's hard on the bowler. Parthiv follows to up with a sublime cover drive for the second boundary of the over. The last ball goes to the fence too, as Parthiv steers it to third man. Very intentional and very well played. 21 runs off that over. A great one to start for MI. The good thing is that the Mumbai batters are finding the gaps.

  • 22:14 (IST)

    After 1 overs,Mumbai Indians 6/0 ( Parthiv Patel (W) 1 , Jos Buttler 4)

Parthiv faces the first ball. Scampers through for a single off the second ball. Bhuvi beats Buttler comprehensively outside the off stump, but then Buttler goes after Bhuvi and turns one off his pads for a boundary at midwicket. Six runs off the first over.

  • 22:08 (IST)

Parthiv Patel and Josh Butler have come out to open for Mumbai Indians. Bhuvneshwar Kumar to start the proceedings for SRH and is bowling with a slip in place.

Preview: Bolstered by the thrilling last over win over the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mumbai Indians will aim to deny a hattrick of wins to defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), when the two sides clash in an Indian Premier League 2017 match at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday.

It is still early days in the tournament, with Mumbai having lost one and winning one while the Hyderabad side seems to have carried on from where they left last season, winning both their matches handsomely.

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma (L) and Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner.

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma (L) and Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner.

Going into Wednesday's tie, both sides can boast of a good mix of young blood and seasoned campaigners. While the hosts have the likes of batsman Nitish Rana, Krunal and Hardik Pandya along side Sri Lankan slinger Lasith Malinga; the visitors can be proud of the performances of teenaged Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan and all-rounder Moises Henriques.

Mumbai can also take a lot of heart from the fact that the win against KKR was a collective effort from the young guns. If Krunal Pandya slowed down the onslaught from the Kolkata batsmen with three quick wickets, Rana and Hardik's blitzkrieg helped them romp home in the final over.

Mumbai will now hope their senior pros – skipper Rohit Sharma, West Indian power-hitter Keiron Pollard and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh – to compliment the youngsters if they are to make a match against a formidable opposition like the Sunrisers.

With Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah around to bowl into the block-hole, Mumbai's death bowling looks sorted for now.

However, the one change Mumbai could make is to bring in Tim Southee for his New Zealand compatriot Mitchell McClenaghan, who leaked plenty of runs against KKR.

On the other hand, back from two comprehensive wins, the visitors will be eager to get those two points and consolidate their lead on top of the standings.

The visitors aren't expected to make any major changes to the winning combination. Skipper David Warner's return to form in the previous match against the Gujarat Lions, further strengthens their top order.

Opener Shikhar Dhawan and Yuvraj Singh have been amongst the runs in the opening game while Henriques has almost cemented the No.3 slot after blasting consecutive fifties.

In the bowling department, all eyes will be on the 18-year-old Afghani, who already has five wickets from two outings. Pacers Ashish Nehra, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Henriques have complimented each other well and will surely test the Mumbai batsmen.

Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Jasprit Bumrah, Jos Buttler, Shreyas Gopal, Krishnappa Gowtham, Asela Gunaratne, Harbhajan Singh, Mitchell Johnson, Kulwant Khejroliya, Siddhesh Lad, Mitchell McClenaghan, Lasith Malinga, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Parthiv Patel (WK), Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran, Deepak Punia, Nitish Rana, Ambati Rayudu, Jitesh Sharma, Karn Sharma, Lendl Simmons, Tim Southee, Jagadeesha Suchith, Saurabh Tiwary and R Vinay Kumar.
