Pakistan have played well.

They have shown pace in the midfield but thanks to a tight Indian defence haven’t been able to penetrate.

At the moment with the scores 1-0 in favour of India, Pakistan still has a chance to come back.

To negate that, India need the goals.

India lead 1-0.

But Pakistan should thank their goalkeeper Imran Butt for making the saves.

Especially the diving one off a deflection from Vivek.

India coming into their own.

Solid defence.

But goals needed upfront.

And that’s the end of the 2nd Q.

It’s half-time.

it could have been a couple of more goals. 

Lovely moves upfront.

Sharp chances missed.

But those two PC’s missed might hurt.

But Harmanpreet trying to surprise the Pakistan GK couldn’t get lift or pace on the flick.

Harmanpreet flick all over the turf and the Pakistan goal keeper makes a save.

Pakistan breathe easy.

And that’s the first peanlty corner for India.

Mandeep is felled in the circle.

Very close. Almost a goal. Harmanpreet Singh flat shot. But Ramandeep’s deflection goes wide.

India unable to stretch the game.

That’s the reason they are using the high ball.

Five minutes left in the first quarter. No Penalty Corner’s yet.

The teams are now ready to come onto the pitch.

The stadium is slowly filling up. Lot of spectators for the India vs Pakistan game and then followed by hosts Holland taking on Olympic Champions Argentina.

Indian coach Harendra Singh officially begins his tenure against this tense but exciting encounter against Pakistan.

On the opposite side is India’s former coach Dutchman Roelant Oltmans who believes his side will give their best against India.

On a bright and sunny day, it’s India vs Pakistan that kicks off this prestigious hockey tournament.

After a couple of wet and gloomy days where the temperature fell to almost ten degrees, it’s back to some good sunshine.
