Former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly celebrated his 43rd birthday on 8 July. [caption id=“attachment_2334760” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Ganguly with his unique birthday gift. PTI[/caption] The former captain, fondly known as Dada, was wished by his former team mates with Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni sharing wonderful throwback pictures with their skipper. On Twitter, #HappyBirthdayDada was a top trend with fans pouring in birthday messages from all over the world. However, one Ganguly birthday wish that caught our attention was Ganguly himself, albeit a miniature version. Dada was gifted a 3D Sculpture of himself by an Indian company in Kolkata and he seemed very amused, describing the statue as ‘very nice’ on his official Facebook page.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes. This 3D Sculpture was really nice..

After unveiling the statue and cutting a cake with it next to him, Ganguly spoke to the media saying that he will have to find a place at home to keep the statute. “Nice statute, I think this is the second time I have received this statute so we will find a place in the house,” he is heard saying in a video uploaded by Xtra Time. However, his response seemed slightly less than enthusiastic. Or may be that is his usual level of enthusiasm. The statue itself bears an eerie resemblance to Ganguly. Clad in a black-and-purple formal outfit, complete with his trademark glasses, the sculpture looks quite like Dada when he isn’t in a great mood. However, we must say that the gesture of gifting Dada a mini-Ganguly is innovative. Maybe this 3D Sculpture can be Dada’s answer to a Madame Tussauds wax statue!
