Anybody who has played ‘gully’ (street) cricket in India knows the feeling of having to field for your opponents when they are a man short. But the last place one expects to see this happen is an international match. But that’s what India A’s Mandeep Singh had to do - field for the visiting South Africa A team and that too with a borrowed jersey. Image Credit: Twitter @afthab047[/caption] As many as 10 South Africa A cricketers were hospitalised on Sunday after suffering food poisoning in Chennai during the ongoing tri-series involving Australia A. The South Africans were down with a stomach bug before, during and after their match against India A which the home team won. The situation was so bad that, with half of the squad falling ill overnight, South Africa A were forced to field their video analyst Henrikus Coertzen as well as India A’s Mandeep Singh. Mandeep’s South African stint earned him the choicest comments on Twitter as well, as users couldn’t help but see the humor in the situation:
Mandeep Singh, is that you? https://t.co/uAOXNOmmmM

I use to field for opponent teams in Street cricket & dropped many catches 😆
Wonder which dressing room @mandeeps12 headed to after this. Any chance of playing tomorrow for them? 😉 pic.twitter.com/hyHcKIPBhW
