AP[/caption] Gambhir has had a tough time in international arena in the last few years. He lost his place in the India Test side after the series loss to England in 2012 and one month later, he was shown the door in the ODIs too. He made a comeback to the Indian Test side one and half years later on the England tour but he flopped with 25 runs from four innings at 6.25. Now in a bid to revive his international career, he’s turned to Langer. “I met Langer briefly when he came to India with the Perth Scorchers during last year’s Champions League T20. I could instantly relate to him, Gambhir told Hindustan Times . “What I like about him is his intensity. His body language on the crease while batting or otherwise meant business. He is a no-nonsense guy and I like it that way,” he added. Gambhir had a decent 2014/15 domestic season with 569 runs at 43.76 in Ranji Trophy and he also hit 167 in the semi-final of the Duleep Trophy against Central Zone. He also played a crucial role in leading Kolkata Knight Riders to two IPL titles in four years. And in an attempt to improve his game further, he skipped a County stint in order to work with Langer. The stint in Perth not only includes working on cricket skills but also fitness. “The entire thing is beautifully married into the cricket programme and there is logic in what these guys do,” Gambhir told EspnCricinfo. “After taking part in these sessions I understood that gymnastics was focused at helping the boys improve their fielding by making them do various stretches and martial arts was trained at bettering the footwork and agility of the players,” he added. Langer has had a successful stint as a coach so far having guided Western Australia to Sheffield Shield finals and helped them clinch the Matador BBQs One-Day Cup this year. He also guided Perth Scorchers to two Big Bash titles in the last two seasons. Click here to read the ESPNCricinfo report. Click here to read the Hindustan Times report.
