It's funny but it must have hurt: Watch two Filipino divers get zero for embarrassing attempts

Before you embark on watching the video below, we would like to tell you that yes, while it’s funny — you should spare a thought for these two Filipino divers’ backs. They must still be hurting, three days after their embarrassing attempt at the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore.

21-year-old John Elmerson Fabriga and 17-year-old John David Pahoyo are now holders of the dubious record of getting a zero for their dives during the games.

The video shows that Fabriga had already realised at the start of the dive that his attempt was going to hurt (his expression is pure gold). Pahoyo’s dive must have hurt a wee bit less as his feet hit the pool slightly earlier than his back.

Fabriga though — must still be wincing at the impact his back had with the water — that clap sound in the video is enough to tell you that.

To his credit though, he posted later on his Facebook: “I even laughed at myself after I did this dive.”
