Ruben Amorim earns Ronaldo’s approval for work done at Manchester United: ‘He's doing his best’

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has received a vote of confidence from legendary Cristiano Ronaldo, but the Portugal football superstar feels the Red Devils are “not in a good path”. Ronaldo’s praise for Amorim has come at a time when Man United have started to show the signs of a revival under the 40-year-old Portuguese manager.

United have been unbeaten in their last four English Premier League matches, winning three of them on a trot since the start of October 2025. This is the first time the club has won three straight games under Amorim. The blistering run has also included an away win at Liverpool.

Man United are currently eighth in the table with 17 points from 10 games, but only two points away from the second spot.

Amorim’s doing his best at Man United: Ronaldo

Asked about Amorim’s tumultuous one-year tenure at Manchester United, Ronaldo said that the young coach is trying his best, but it’s not possible to do miracles at the club.

“He’s doing his best,” Ronaldo told Piers Morgan in an interview. “What are you going to do? Miracles? Miracles is impossible. We say in Portugal, ‘miracles is only in Fatima’, and he’s not going to do miracles.”

Ronaldo added that United are a damaged side that needs changes from within to reclaim the lost glory.

“Manchester United is still in my heart,” added the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who won seven major honours with the club between 2003 and 2009.

“I love that club. But we have all to be honest and look for ourselves and say, ’listen, they are not in a good path’.

“So, they need to change and it’s not only about the coach and players, in my opinion.”

The 40-year-old, who won the Premier League and the Champions League with Man United, also questioned some of the players at the club as he feels they “don’t have in mind what Manchester United is”.

Ronaldo played for Man United in two different stints. First, he played from 2003 to 2009, winning three EPL titles and a Champions League. He returned in 2021, but his contract was terminated in 2022 after falling out with then-manager Erik ten Hag.
