The football world was left devastated on Thursday following the tragic passing of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota. The Portuguese international died in a car crash in Spain. Jota, 28, was travelling with his brother Andre, 26, also a footballer when the vehicle went off-road. According to Spanish Police, the incident occurred on the A-52 highway in the province of Zamora, where both men were found dead.

As Jota was a routine feature in both Liverpool and Portugal lineups, there is a sense of shared grief among the football community who have witnessed him week in and week out. Moreover, what comes as further hard-hitting is the fact that he got married just 10 days ago. The social media space is filled with fans mourning the death of the player.
