Mohun Bagan Super Giant sack coach Juan Ferrando after poor form

Mohun Bagan Super Giant on Wednesday announced the sacking of coach Juan Ferrando after a string of poor results. The Kolkata giants also appointed technical director Antonio Lopez Habas as the new coach for the upcoming Super Cup. Mohun Bagan are currently fifth in the ISL 2023-24 points table with 19 points and just six wins from 10 matches. They had lost their last five matches including one in the AFC Cup group stage.

Under Ferrando, they had also failed to qualify from their. group stage “Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s head coach is changing. Juan Fernando is stepping aside. Antonio Lopez Habas is taking charge of the Green and Maroon in his place. He will handle the duties of the head coach for the upcoming Super Cup. Thanks to Juan Ferrando for winning the ISL (2022-23 season) and this year’s Durand Cup(sic.),” Mohun Bagan said in an official statement. Ferrando had led Mohun Bagan to the ISL title last season and also the Durand Cup 2023-24 trophy.
