Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah just cannot stop breaking records. His latest achievement came on Sunday night when he became the first player to score a goal and produce an assist in eight English Premier League matches in a single season.
The Egypt international scored one goal and assisted twice on Sunday as Liverpool thumped West Ham United 5-0 to maintain top spot in the Premier League. The two assists on Sunday took his assists tally to 23 across all competitions this year, the most by any Liverpool player in a single calendar year in the Premier League era.

Salah has so far enjoyed a stellar season with the Reds, scoring 20 goals and assisting 16 in 26 matches across all competitions. This, however, comes at a time when the 32-year-old is yet to sign a contract extension at Anfield , with his current contract expiring on 30 June next year.

Salah, however, has admitted that the talks of a potential contract extension is still far away. “We are far away from that,” Salah told Sky Sports. “I don’t want to put something in the media and people start saying stuff, but nothing really has moved on. Now I am focused on the team and hopefully we win the Premier League.”
“The only thing in my mind is that I want Liverpool to win the league and I want to be part of it,” added Salah.
“That is the only thing I have focused on. I will do my best to win the trophy. We are in the right direction but there are other teams trying to catch up with us. We just need to stay humble and go again,” he stated further.
Liverpool are on top of the Premier League standings with 45 points from 18 matches, eight points ahead of second-placed Nottingham Forest (37) who have played a game more.
In the Premier League alone this season, Salah has scored 17 goals and is the club’s leading goal-scorer. Liverpool will next face Manchester United at home in the Premier League on 5 January.
