Liverpool star Mohamed Salah penned an emotional post on social media following his team's 2-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion in the English Premier League on Saturday amid uncertainty on his future at Anfield.
Salah’s contract with Liverpool is set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 season and a report in The Mirror has said that there is “no sign yet of any progression in talks of a new deal” for the Egypt international. Salah has been an integral part of Liverpool since joining the club from AS Roma in 2017, guiding the club to multiple titles including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and FA Cup trophies.

Salah scored in the 72nd minute against Brighton to take Liverpool to the top of the Premier League standings. The Reds have 25 points from 10 matches, two more than defending champions Manchester City (23 points), who lost to Bournemouth on Saturday. “Top of the table is where this club belongs. Nothing less. All teams win matches but there’s only 1 champion in the end. That’s what we want.
Thank you for your support last night. No matter what happens, I will never forget what scoring at Anfield feels like,” the 32-year-old posted on “X” on Sunday. His goal against Brighton was Salah’s 164th goal for Liverpool. Salah has found the net seven times and has five assists in 10 Premier League matches this season.

“The second goal was a Mo Salah special. It’s not the first and not the last time he will score from that position,” Liverpool manager Arne Slot said after the win over Brighton.
After Liverpool had beaten Manchester United 3-0 in September, Salah had hinted that this could be his final season with Liverpool. “As you know it’s my last year in the club I just wanna enjoy it, I don’t wanna think about it, No one in the club has talked to me yet about a contract, so I say it’s my last season. New deal? It’s not up to me… but no one has spoken to me at the club," he had said.
Liverpool next host Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night. Liverpool are second in the 36-team standings with nine points from three matches, with only goal difference separating them from first-placed Aston Villa.
