Marcus Rashford has said that the constant changes at Manchester United made it hard for him to play at his best. The England forward, who joined Barcelona on loan this season, believes that the club has had too many changes in the past few years - from new managers to new strategies every season.
United’s new coach, Ruben Amorim, joined late last year after Erik ten Hag was sacked following prolonged struggles. Amorim was expected to turn things around, but the club has failed to improve results under his guidance. Rashford was sent on loan to Aston Villa in January this year, and after returning at the end of the season, he was loaned to Barcelona for the remainder of the new season.

He has already contributed to four goals in eight La Liga games and scored twice against Newcastle in the Champions League. Speaking from the England camp ahead of a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Latvia, he said the lack of stability at United affected his consistency.
“For sure, consistency is a massive part of it. I feel like I have been in an inconsistent environment for a very long time, so it is even more difficult to be consistent. But I completely agree, I think consistency is what I need to bring into my game and I am looking to do that. I want to be at my best, not sometimes, but as often as possible," Rashford told ITV, but the video has now been removed from X.
“When people talk about consistency, in order to be consistent in anything, not just sport, you need consistent variables in your life and the way you train. We have just had so many changes so far in my career but I have to look forward and that it definitely one of the things I want to put right and improve on to be at my best more often. When I am at my best I really enjoy everything about the sport,” he added.
Apart from Amorim and ten Hag, Rashford has also played under Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Ever since his move to Barcelona, Rashford is being linked with a permanent move to the La Liga side.
