Following the devastating 2024/25 season, Manchester United have run riot in the summer transfer window ahead of the start of the much-awaited 2025/26 season. The Red Devils have immensely improved the squad by roping in attackers like Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko. However, as per the Manchester Evening News, Ruben Amorim and Co. are not yet done when it comes to signing players.
As per MEN, United are in contention to acquire the services of goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG but to have him onboard, United might have to sell the current number 1, Andre Onana. Hence, the club is more inclined towards signing a midfielder. Nevertheless, if a situation arises when Onana gets sold, then they would have to bring in a new replacement, and there is no one better available in the market than Donnarumma.
According to ESPN, United, Chelsea, and Inter Milan are all monitoring the situation of the Italian goalkeeper, and PSG are now waiting for a bid, having previously claimed that a £26m offer would suffice the club.
Rasmus Hojlund’s future uncertain
With Sesko in, it is difficult to guess what is ahead for the Rasmus Hojlund. The striker remained deprived of goals throughout the last season, and hence it will be interesting to see how the club handles his situation, i.e., whether it will sell the player or give him a second-fiddle role in front of the goal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan is in talks to sign Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund, with a potential deal involving a €6 million loan fee and a €45 million buy option. The Italian club would reportedly cover Hojlund’s entire salary. However, the player has not yet agreed to leave Manchester United.
With the signings United have made, they look all set to finish with an improved standing this time in the Premier League. However, will they be able to present a case for top 4, is a question that will be answered in due course.
