New Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has vowed to restore the lost glory at Old Trafford, but he will forced to do it on a limited budget. The 29-year-old football manager who recently joined Manchester United after the sacking of Erik ten Hag will not have the luxury of going to the transfer market with loads of money, a privilege that the Dutch coach enjoyed in his troublesome tenure that lasted a little over two seasons.
Ten Hag spent €660 million on 21 new players during his time at Manchester United. While he won the EFL Cup and FA Cup once each, the club constantly struggled in the Premier League.
Limited budget at Man Utd for Amorim
Now, Manchester United owners have reportedly decided to take a different route due to the financial pressure on the club. The club made a loss of £313 million in the last three seasons and is aiming to cut down on transfer costs to remain within Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, as per a report in The Telegraph.
While it has not been specified how much budget Amorin will be given for January or the summer transfer windows, the former Sporting CP coach is already linked with players from the Portuguese club. Manchester United are rumoured to be interested in Viktor Gyokeres and Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP besides players like Milos Kerkez and Jarrad Branthwaite, however, Amorim will have to be selective when he goes to the transfer market.

Meanwhile, Amorim on Monday oversaw his first training session as a Manchester United head coach. Kobbie Mainoo, Amad, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Leny Yoro, Lisandro Martinez, and Victor Lindelöf were some of the players who trained at the Carrington on Monday.
Amorim will soon have the whole team with him as players slowly make their way from an international break. Manchester United’s next match is against Ipswich Town in the Premier League on 24 November (Sunday).
