Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens has finally revealed why his Premier League debut was delayed and who he feels is the best finisher at the club and it is not Bryan Mbeumo. The 23-year-old goalkeeper Lammens was signed by Man United on the summer transfer deadline day (1 September).
But the Belgian goalkeeper only made his Man United debut in October. Lammens, however, has become the No 1 goalkeeper at the club since making his debut.
Lammens speaks on life at Man United
While speaking to MUTV, Lammens revealed that he needed some time to get used to the faster pace of the English Premier League, which is why he did not make his debut in September.
“I think clearly the quality is way better, everything goes a tick faster, every guy is a tick stronger and the ball goes a little bit faster”, Lammens told MUTV.
“So the first couple of weeks was getting used to it, to be honest, so that is why I think the way that I was brought in was also a positive, to give me the time and those first couple of weeks, which I needed, to adjust to training and get my level to the guys.
“In the games after it was easier because I was already used to it after a couple of weeks of training with the first team. The finishing you can feel… if you are just one step to the left they can see it and they just put it to the right of you.”
The former Royal Antwerp footballer Lammens also opened up on the best finisher in the Man United squad. He took the name of captain Bruno Fernandes when asked, and not that of Mbeumo, who leads the goal-scoring charts for the club in the ongoing season with six goals.
“Yeah, I think the skipper (Bruno Fernandes) is probably the best one. Yeah, left and right. He also likes to joke with me that in training, he always gets goals against me,” he said.
However, Fernandes has only scored two goals this season, with the last one coming in the 2-1 win against Chelsea in September. He would want to end the drought on Sunday when Manchester United travel to Crystal Palace.
