Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s joy at seeing his side beat Newcastle United at Anfield quickly turned into dismay when he briefly lost his wedding ring amid wild post-match celebrations. The incident happened after Liverpool shrugged off an outstanding display by Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka, who made 10 saves, to win 4-2. The win lifted Klopp’s team three points clear in the Premier League standings. As Klopp lost his wedding ring, it needed the sharp eye of a TV cameraperson to locate the jewellery in the middle of the pitch. The relieved German manager responded by kissing the ring in front of the cameras.

“I lost it once and I needed a professional diver because I lost it in the sea,” he admitted. “From time to time [it happens] when I lose one or two kilos. I was too lively and I lost it and I had a massive shock. The cameraman annoyed me quite a few times this season but now he has a lot of shots free because that was really important.”

AND AFTER A FRANTIC SEARCH, IT ENDS WITH A KISS. 💋 pic.twitter.com/80i5Wc9nk8
Klopp had celebrated with his players and was heading toward the fans while applauding, before he realised he no longer had his wedding ring on. He searched the grass near where he was standing, even asking a steward if he wouldn’t mind helping in the search. Klopp was then told where the ring was by the person operating the camera for British broadcaster Sky Sports.
