Mohun Bagan SG had almost swept aside Mumbai City FC in their title-deciding clash that drew curtains on the league stages of ISL 2023-24 in April. Their 2-1 win was as convincing as it could come, pushing an impeccable looking Islanders’ unit off balance with their fierce pace and assertion over their own style of play.

Mumbai City FC head coach Petr Kratky has certainly taken some learning from that defeat, and is keen to correct them on Saturday.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the final of ISL 2023-24, with Mohun Bagan Super Giant squaring off against Mumbai City FC at Kolkata’s Yuba Bharati Krirangan, a.k.a. the Salt Lake Stadium on Saturday.

Mohun Bagan SG had defeated Mumbai City FC 2-1 the last time the two teams had met, on 15 April at the same venue, resulting in the Mariners clinching the League Winners Shield for the first time.

Mumbai City FC, incidentally, had registered a victory with a similar scoreline in the final of the 2020-21 edition, thanks to a final-minute winner from Bipin Singh, to win their only ISL title to date.
