Barcelona’s young football sensation, Lamine Yamal , has found himself in the spotlight once again, but this time it’s not because of his performances on the pitch. The 17-year-old forward, who is enjoying a break after Spain’s Nations League final loss to Portugal , was recently seen holidaying in Italy.
Yamal shared pictures from a luxury resort-type destination that included boat rides, poolside relaxation, and even a helicopter ride. Interestingly, Fati Vazquez, a 30-year-old Spanish flight attendant turned social media influencer, shared similar posts from the same location, sparking rumours that the two may be dating.
Yamal denies dating rumours
However, Yamal has denied any romantic connection with Vazquez. According to Daily Mail, Yamal told Spanish TV gossip reporter Javi de Hoyos that he is not dating Vazquez and that nothing is going on between them. De Hoyos also said that Yamal wasn’t travelling alone and that he was on the trip with other Barcelona teammates.
De Hoyos further suggested that Vazquez might be a friend of some other Barcelona player, who is travelling with Yamal, or perhaps dating someone from the team. “Lamine didn’t go to this vacation spot alone, but with other Barça teammates. Probably, Fati does have something going on with someone at Barca or is a friend of another teammate,” he said.
Vazquez receives death threats
The posts caused a stir online because of the fact that there is a 13-year age gap between Yamal and Vazquez. Some people went as far as to target Vazquez on social media, resulting in her issuing a statement on Instagram.
‘It’s sad to see how some people carry so much darkness inside that they get to wish death on someone they don’t even know. What others project speaks more about them than me. I choose to live with purpose, continue to grow and surround myself with light. To those who wish me evil, I wish them healing, because no one who is well with himself wishes to destroy another," she wrote after receiving death threats.
