After months of speculation, Mohamed Salah has officially committed his future to Liverpool, signing a new two-year deal that will see him remain at Anfield until 2027. Back in November 2024, Salah hinted that his Liverpool future was hanging in the balance, stating he was “more out than in.”
The comment set alarm bells ringing due to the uncertainty of his future at Anfield, with many suggesting he might be lured by the Saudis. However, the latest announcement has put an end to all the rumours surrounding the Egyptian star, with Salah now staying at Liverpool for the foreseeable future.

How the deal came together?
According to a BBC report, the breakthrough came in late March, when Salah, his long-time agent Ramy Abbas Issa, and Liverpool’s new sporting director Richard Hughes reached a mutual understanding. The final paperwork was wrapped up earlier this week, and even Salah’s teammate Andy Robertson admitted he only heard of the agreement hours before it was announced.
The deal makes Salah one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League, earning over $5,00,000 per week. With 54 goal contributions this season alone, Salah remains the main man of the Reds’ attack and replacing him would not have been easy for the side.

The biggest subplot in the saga was the reported $600 million package offered to Salah by the Saudi Pro League. Saudi clubs believed that they could lure Salah to the Middle East by offering him a huge salary just as they did with some of the other top players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar.
However, the report suggests that money wasn’t the decisive factor for Salah. People close to the footballer say that Salah believes he still has at least three more years at the top. The 34-year-old also wants to challenge himself at the highest level while preparing for Egypt’s upcoming international fixtures.
As per the report, Salah wants to win the Ballon d’Or, clinch a second Champions League trophy, and help Liverpool secure their 20th Premier League title. Family life has also played a part in the decision. His wife and daughters are reportedly settled and happy in Liverpool.
