The hosts also make a couple of substitutions shortly after, with left-back Phong Hong Duy Nguyen needing some medical attention on the field. Thai Son Nguyen and Van Khang Khuat are the players who are brought on in the first substitutions of the match.

47’: Chhangte charges into the Vietnamese box a couple of minutes into the second half, but his cross is unable to find Farukh as it was intercepted. A minute later, Farukh appeals for a penalty after being pushed inside the box.

The referee had pointed to the spot after a Vietnamese forward had been brought down what initially appeared to be the edge of the Indian box by Rahul Bheke, only for the ref to rule it in favour of the home team.

Not only does Vietnam captain Que Ngoc Hai’s shot lack power, Sandhu also anticipates the direction of the shot correctly to complete a fine save.
