India vs Tajikistan, CAFA Nations Cup 2025 Highlights: The Indian men’s football team begins a new chapter on Friday as they face co-hosts Tajikistan in their opening game of the 2025 CAFA Nations Cup in Hisor, Tajikistan. The match, after all, marks the debut of Khalid Jamil as the Blue Tigers head coach, with Jamil having recently succeeded Manolo Marquez in the role.
Jamil, who had previously coached Indian Super League club Jamshedpur FC, had recently organised a national camp for the Indian team in Bengaluru in preparation for the CAFA Nations Cup earlier this month. The 48-year-old former midfielder will be hoping that his methods implemented in the national training camp bears fruit in the form of success in the CAFA Nations Cup, starting with a victory in their opening game on Friday.
After facing Tajikistan on Friday, India – ranked 133rd in the world at present – face Iran on Monday, 1 September and Afghanistan on Thursday, 4 September.
Uzbekistan, the nation that is co-hosting the event along with Tajikistan, are part of Group A along with Kyrgyzstan, Oman and Turkmenistan.
