India vs Oman, CAFA Nations Cup 2025 Highlights: The Indian football team will be aiming to sign off from the CAFA Nations Cup on a winning note when they face Oman in the third-place playoff at the Hisor Central Stadium in Hisor, Tajikistan on Monday. The Blue Tigers, who are playing their first tournament under new coach Khalid Jamil, had earlier finished level on four points with Tajikistan, but had progressed to the next round on the basis of their superior head-to-head count, having beaten the tournament co-hosts in their opening game of the event.
How India and Oman progressed to the playoffs
Jamil has experienced all three results at the start of his tenure as India coach – after his team’s surprise 2-1 victory over Tajikistan, India were handed a 0-3 defeat by Asian heavyweights Iran before playing out a goalless draw against Afghanistan on Thursday.
Oman, meanwhile, finished level on seven points with tournament co-hosts Uzbekistan in Group A with two wins and a draw, but were relegated to the second spot due to an inferior Goal Difference. The Carlos Queiroz-coached side began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Uzbekistan before defeating Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan by identical scorelines of 2-1.
The Uzbeks had also inflicted a 2-1 loss on Turkmenistan but finished top of the group with their 4-0 thrashing of Kyrgyzstan.
Both India and Oman are playing on an invitation from the Central Asian Football Association, which had been formed 10 years ago and is headquartered in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
