Cristiano Ronaldo found the back of the net as Portugal maintained their 100 per cent record in the UEFA Nations League with a 3-1 win over Poland in Warsaw on Saturday. Portugal came into the match against Poland on the back of two wins in as many matches. Bernardo Silva gave Portugal a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute and it took only 11 minutes before Ronaldo doubled the lead in the 37th minute.
Not long after the 39 year-old scored his 133rd goal for Portugal, a fan breached the security and came onto the pitch in a bid to get a selfie taken with Ronaldo. The security were quick to respond to this incident but before they could take the fan away, Ronaldo politely requested the security to not intervene and let the fan take a selfie with him. The fan’s dream of taking a selfie with the Al-Nassr player thus came true.

Portugal now have nine points from three matches in Group A of the UEFA Nations League A competition, following victories over Croatia, Scotland and Poland. Portugal next take on Scotland once again in the reverse fixture in Glasgow on Tuesday.
Roberto Marinez, the Portugal manager, feels his team has been better prepared since their quarter-final exit at Euro 2024 in the summer.
“We have more players (now), the competitiveness for what we are working on is growing, we are an even better prepared team after the European Championship. Our focus and total objective is the World Cup. I am happy, the attitude was incredible, the players’ personality was fantastic in a difficult stadium. For us it is a very important performance. We don’t want to concede goals, but the performance was very good. We’re seeing new debuts, new players, who are coming into the group in a natural way,” Martinez said.
He termed Ronaldo as a “perfect” player. “It’s important, it’s part of us managing the players, because there are two games in 72 hours. Diogo Jota came on very well. It’s important to use the players we have on the bench. Cristiano is perfect now. Renato Veiga is very mature and aggressive. I think the relationship and connection with Ruben Dias was good. We are talking about a game with one of the best penalty area players in modern football (Robert Lewandowski). I think (knowing this) his debut is even more important,” stated the 51 year-old.
