India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty on Tuesday returned to the top of BWF men’s doubles rankings after clinching the sliver at the Indian Open. The Asian Games champions had also finished as runners-up at the Malaysia Open Super 1000 earlier. Satwik and Chirag had achieved the world No. 1 ranking for the first time after claiming the historic gold medal at the Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2023. The Indian badminton stars were the favourite to win the gold at India Open as the world No. 2 but lost in the final against world champions Kang Min Hyuk and Seo Sang Jae on Sunday. Meanwhile, HS Prannoy jumped a place to reach the world No. 8 spot, while Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth and Priyanshu Rajawat remained at 19th, 25th and 30th spots respectively.
Satwik and Chirag had achieved the world No. 1 ranking for the first time after claiming the historic gold medal at the Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2023.
